After recently upgrading my computer (more like complete overhaul)
after installing orbiter and running the default shuttle Atlantis scenario (launch from cape) my computer does what I can only describe as a jump every 2 seconds or so, the same sort of experience as if you were lagging on a multi player server.

Specs:
CPU: Phenom II x3 720 @ 3.2Ghz
Memory: 4GB DDR3 @667Mhz
GPU: Onboard HD4200 (with newest catalyst version 09.11)
OS: XP SP3 32bit

Cheers

Is your hard drive LED flashing during such freezes?

Try next steps:
1.Update your antivirus definitions and do a full scan. If you use a free "antivirus" like Avast/Avira, download and install a trial version of a real antivirus (Kaspersky or NOD32, these are the best choice for home use).
2.Disable your internet and network connection
3.Disable swap file
4.Disable every piece of resident software (firewalls, antivirus, antispyware, keyboard switchers, defraggers, ...)
After each step - check the sim. This will let you find the source of the problem. And of course, don't forget to turn all back on after the check.

Before you do that, check "always enumerate devices" and choose the appropriate T&L device.

I did that when I reinstalled orbiter

The HDD LED does not flash while the freezes are happening.

All 4 steps done, the jumpiness still persists.

Well, DDR problem usually results in bluescreens, not in short freezes.
Does the problem appear with other games/apps? If not - guess n72.75 is right. Orbiter isn't quite friendly to integrated video.

I have had a similar problem in the past, though mine included bluescreens. Solving it turned out to be simple; turn the DDR clock back. I dropped it to match the FSB frequency and haven't had an issue since.

Since Orbiter uses 1 core fully, it might very well be that your processor is overheating.
Check the temperatures while orbiting.

Blaze, not sure if you solved your problem or not. This is not likely your issue but I wanted to post it here for anyone having the choppy problem that I'm having. I've been fighting a choppy sim all day. I'm embarassed to say it but it was because I wanted to run my sim with the correct Julian Date. Guess I was ignoring the "M" in "MJD". I found today's julian date online and loaded it into a scenario. My little primate brain sort of wondered why there was such a difference in the number of digits but I just pressed on anyway. Then I discovered that 2400000.5 needed to be subtracted from the actual julian date to get the correct MJD. Once I corrected this my choppiness went away.

I M dum buh.

:embarrassed:

Have you tried running scenarios other than the default Atlantis?
