Yes I was a Mad Science instructor. This is my third attempt at posting. I hope it works.
Ho-ray! It worked. Minnesota Space Frontier Society (MNSFS) has asked me to help with a simulator project for education. I am hoping to use orbiter with two screens and a Joystick for a 10 or 15 minute trip up and back (time compression). We hope to spec a vehicle tonight. We will be using a lifting body.

10 to 15 minutes may be a bit short - time compression can cause issues in the atmosphere (below 90km, anyway) if your computer (or your reflexes) isn't fast enough.

I'd consider using the DGIV (from DanSteph - get it at Dan's Orbiter Page which can be found in the Quicklinks above - also the source for OrbitSound, which is sort of essential).

This vessel has some autopilots, one of which will allow you to use the high AoA re-entry method (and one which will do it for you!). The "Stock" Deltaglider isn't really capable of a realistic re-entry. While the XR series vessels are also very nice, they are a bit more complicated (ie, the scram engines) and may be less suitable for your purpose.

Thanks Tommy. The kids I work with often have a short attention span. That is why I am looking at time compression. I will check out your suggestions. Again, thanks.

just getting into orbit and down, with compression wil be about 20 minutes i suppose (with the DG autopilot), aiming for a specific runway/base, about 25 (and quite a bit of fuel ;)) and round the ISS and back, 30 mins up and 15 down.

hey, maybe youll flood OF with science students! not sure whether thats good or bad, but it would certainly start some sort of argument :D

welcome to the game :D
