For those of you who haven't been following the direct reentry thread, I've posted a tutorial (annotated flight recording) at Orbit Hanger. It shows how to use IMFD to set up the course, find a launch heading, and correct the course for a direct reentry to Cape Canaveral.
Requires:
XR-2 Ravenstar
IMFD 5.1
Aerobake MFD
Setting Base Approach programs mode from "reentry" to orbit, and setting "number" to the number of FULL orbits you plan to make before reentry you can enter LEO, then perform a standard reentry. That's easier than a direct reentry which involves entering the atmosphere inverted under manual control for the initial aerobrake to suborbital speed.
Hopefully this will help people learn how to use IMFD somewhat, and it's much more fuel efficient than a "point and thrust" method.
