I'm not sure if I'm putting this post in the right place, but I didn't see a location for reporting on the 2011 beta, so...

While using the latest BETA release I noticed that the airspeed gauges and their related acceleration information are very jumpy and inaccurate. Can anyone clarify as to that?

This seems to be due to the new wind simulation introduced in the betas. You can disable it in the Orbiter Launchpad somewhere.

Wind simulation?? :woohoo:

Would be wonderfull if orbiter could use real data, like METAR to the nearest base.

By quoting martins:

That's probably because the wind module hasn't actually been implemented yet. At the moment this is just a placeholder with some static, random, height-dependent wind velocities.

No realism intended for now.

Here's the initial discussion about Global wind models for Orbiter.

Well, even after disabling wind effects, I got wild airspeed fluctuations. Not to mention, as a result of this, when I exit a simulation and return immediately afterwards, said dramatic airspeed fluctuations overspeed the stock DG--while GS/OS remains the same throughout, it's as if there was a sudden change in atmospheric pressure, or something like that.

What exact version of Orbiter are you using?
