News Benoit Mandelbrot RIP

I discovered the Mandelbrot set reading "Ghost form the Grand Banks" by Arthur C Clarke in the early 90's. Rekindled my interest in mathematics and I also taught myself C on the Amiga 500+ so I could write my own Mandelbrot plotter.

My first mandelbrot calculator was written in turbo pascal and ran more than a day on an 8086 CPU :facepalm:
And printing it in grayscale (sic!) on a 9-pin needle printer sounded like a flock of geese at the butcher's
 
Rest in peace. You will always be remembered - not only because of the beauty of fractals, but also for your brilliant statistics insights.
 
Sad loss of a great guy, but he lived a long life. RIP
I've made a java mandelbrot program. And I'm a fan of the mandelbulb.
