How much can you bench press?

---------- Post added at 04:29 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:12 PM ----------

A few months ago I maxed out at 160lbs, but my arm grew like two inches around and Im going to try 180 or 190 next 2 weeks.

i know i can bench press my own weight(or mass if you want to be perfectly accurate) which is ~80kg.

but i can only do two or three reps max before i'm liable to drop the thing on myself. i don't actually do a whole lot of stuff in the gym, i mostly stick to climbing either indoors if the weather is crap or outdoors if its nice out, i know some good little rocky outcroppings which aren't particularly tall or dangerous(worst case scenario is you fall 3 meters into some soft mud maybe getting a scrape from the rock on your way down, its softer than the crash mats for indoors) but quite challenging.

not bad for the school geek :P well, ex school i'm in uni now.

Thats not too bad depending on your age. Im only 14 though and I am a gym freak.

I just got 190. Scarily, 8 months ago, I could barely get up 95 :)

I'm not sure I can even remember the last time I even tried. I think it was something like 40 lbs back in my freshman year of highschool, and I'm not sure it's improved since then.

40 pounds? that's not even the bar... ;) The bar alone weighs 45.

yeah, your choices don't go low enough. Back in sophomore year of high school I took a weight training class. At the start of the semester I could just barely bench the bar alone (~45lbs) just barely; by the end of the semester I think I could manage 65 or 70. I haven't worked on it since then.

When I started in Junior year, I could barely do about 100 pounds, When I ended the school year (about 8 months) I was doing about 175 (bar + 2x45 weights + 2x20 weights)

I normally do 2 sets of 15 reps at 52.5 kg. I selected 125-135 lbs since I know I can do half a dozen reps at that weight.

Can't stand gyms, they bore the hell out of me and at least here are usually full of posers but I can bench somewhere around my own weight. Not done it in a few months, though.

I managed to find one of the few gyms in Sydney that does not have the walls lined with mirrors. They also have great facilities for kids, tennis & squash courts, pools, etc. As a result, the clientele is significantly different than most gyms around town.

I can press my own trousers, does that count?

N.

Ha ha. I can get more than most of you guys here and I'm 14. My friend who is the same age can get 215.
