Gaming Battlefield 3 Released!!

Perhaps its time for a new thread. "The corruptness of game publishers";)

I've passed on Battlefield 3 so I can get Skyrim, just more of my thing than Battlefield.

I am an ES fan as well. I will also not be getting BF3 right away, since I have 2 other games pre-ordered, Uncharted3 and MW3. After those, Skyrim is next on my list, followed by BF3.

I picked up the GOTY edition of Oblivion for the PS3 (used to have in on X360) to hold me over until I can get Skyrim.

But man, BF3 looks better every time I see it. Going to be hard to wait to pick it up

A friend of mine graciously loaned me BF3 so I could work through the single player. I'm a couple missions in, and so far it's mostly a CoD-clone, but with a few differences. The audio and visual effects are far better than CoD, the guns emit loud, manly blasts instead of quiet chattering. The engine looks great, and the control feel does a better job of making you feel planted in the game world. I can tell I'm in for one of those marathon "action movie" gaming experiences.

I do have one complaint, though, I wish they didn't apply that stupid scratchy/dusty overlay to the camera. I want my vision in the game to be as good as my real vision, my character isn't running around with a scratched up piece of glass hanging in front of his face.

I was just watching some guys run that yesterday in the cafeteria at ARC between my bouts at Infection and SWAT in Reach. Looks awesome if you've got a XBOX LIVE connection. Otherwise, no MP. (that's our problem, btw. Anyone got 50 feet of CAT-5 we can borrow? )

Actually, yes

I just refuse to buy this game bescause of these problems

Its using Origin as a distributor and drm system. I researched the web and found out that on their terms of service, they said that they reserve the right to obtain your personal information and send this information toa third party vendor. in layman's terms, stealing your information with your authorization equals violation of privacy. Plus, its EA and I boycott all of their games by refusing to spend my money with their garbage

Do what I do, input a fake name, adress...etc...the spam filter can handle the rest. But seriously, buy a retail copy from gamestop.

 You put COD before Elder Scrolls!?

One thing you're very good at is making petty judgements at people.
I'm sorry, but COD has become real stale recently, the series used to be good, before Modern Warfare that is, now it's all lots of the same stuff over and over.

oh god, i saw a video on youtube with 'GRENAAAADE!' *boom* *little kid cries* 'im gonna tell somebody on you!' i nearly fell off my chair

EDIT: found it, along with a funny minecraft parody

Buy it, now. Its one of the most awe-inspiring games to date. Using the new frostbite 2 game engine (if it exists, it can be shredded with an RPG) I havent even finished the single player campaign, but I can tell its going to be a wild ride :P . As for multiplayer, its awesome. The maps are vast and wide open, so get to a vehicle...unless you want to run a marathon. The DICE team have included going to prone (for the wannabe snipers) which means tall grass is a serious threat. To counteract this, they've included scope glint, (sun reflecting off the glass of the rifle scope). The most important thing that they've added is 'shellshock', meaning even though youre in cover, your opponent can still shoot over the cover blurring your FOV. I have a feeling not a lot of O-F members will pick this game up (not sure where its released all over the world) but if you have the chance (or the PC that can handle ultra graphics) get it.:tiphat:

I will be getting as soon as I can!

I'm not so sure. I like the merging of some of Fallout 3's features such as the Perks and not having to rest when you level. I'm also like the sound of the new system where there are no classes and you just play as you'd like to form your "class".
That's exactly what I meant by dumbed down. ;)

Skyrim should be a great game, I'm just saying it probably (though Bethesda is very much welcome to blow my mind if they feel like it!) won't offer me the years of entertainment Morrowind did.

I'd hardly call adding perks and making you not have to sleep "dumbing down."
And I think that not choosing a class and just playing as you like does quite the opposite, if you make a bad choice when choosing your class it takes a long time to level up the skills that you do want and you've got higher levels in skills you'll almost never use, sounds like a pretty good move to me.

Which is exactly what you just did.
