The Class 800s are a handy piece of kit. The Dual mode ones especially. Apparently not as much grunt as a HST and the lack of a buffet car is a loss to some.

I used to travel a lot between Newcastle and London Kings Cross. The journey time has changed a bit its 2:50 for the fastest service now.

Trains or rather the carriages are a lot better. Air-con, seats are more comfortable. They also have two "quiet" coaches on the 10 car service. They are phone and electronic device in quiet-mode only. Usually observed!

I have a trip South in October, I'll check on the buffet-car!

Power for the seats is a life saver (more than wifi).

You might enjoy Geoff Marshall's youtube channel. Him and his partner have visited every station in the British Isles and look at rail transport in the UK in general.

I've been on that route for a long time so any improvement is a boon.
I'll have a look at Mr Marshall's output.

Done the first Azuma run.
Thanks, G.
