Finally after 6 hours of troubleshooting I found out why starting Orbiter would empty all the programs in the taskbar. The programs would still be running but not show on the taskbar.

It seems that the AttitudeMFD and IMFD version 5 and up are incompatible. So I deactivated the AttitudeMFD and all is well. I guess AttitudeMFD is for an older version of Orbiter anyway.

AttitudeMFD v3.2 is built on the 060929 version of the SDK so that should not be an issue. I am currently running AttitudeMFD v3.2 and IMFD v5.1g with no problems here. Some questions:

1. Other than icons disappearing from your taskbar tray, are there any other symptoms? Do IMFD and AttitudeMFD behave as expected in Orbiter?
2. Can you post your orbiter.log?
3. Can you please try a clean install with just IMFD 5.1m and AttitudeMFD v3.2 and report back.

Can anyone else confirm this bug?

I've been doing some testing and have been unable to replicate this bug with either IMFD 5.1g or 5.1m. A further question:

4. When do the icons from your taskbar tray get eaten? When starting the launchpad, when activating the modules in the launchpad or when starting the simulation session?

Well the items on the task bar would disappear as soon as I started lunch pad. But I can't get it to break again.

I ran #240 from http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm to fix it when it first crashed, but it still kept happening. Thats when I started removing add ons.

And I tried it with just IMFD51 and it worked. Then I put AttitudeMFD back in and it happened again.

I guess I don't know what happened. Probably just a fluke cause by the order that things were installed. I'll let you know if I can break it again.:compbash2:

AttitudeMFD doesn't do anything at that stage other than register itself with Orbiter. It is hard to see how that would case a problem. The code is very straight-forward.
