Spaceflight Now: Familiar glitch added drama to aborted Ariane countdown.

Thursday's back-to-back last-second scrubs of an Ariane 5 rocket launch were caused by the vehicle's first stage pressurization system, an issue similar to the problem that triggered an unusual Arianespace quality review earlier this year, the company's top executive said Friday.

Ariane finally blasts off
The latest Ariane 5 rocket has launched from the Guiana Space Center in South America carrying a pair of Arab and South Korean satellites for diverse purposes. The half-hour ascent to geosynchronous transfer orbit began with liftoff at 2141 GMT (5:41 p.m. EDT) after two earlier scrubs. The mission appeared to go smoothly and deployment of the payloads occurred successfully.
