Cygnus NG-10, previously known as CRS OA-10E, is the eleventh planned flight of the Northrop Grumman unmanned resupply spacecraft Cygnus and its tenth flight to the International Space Station under the Commercial Resupply Services contract with NASA. The mission is scheduled to launch on 15 November 2018. This particular mission is part of an extension of the initial CRS contract that enables NASA to cover the ISS resupply needs until the Commercial Resupply Services 2 contract enters in effect.

Orbital ATK and NASA jointly developed a new space transportation system to provide commercial cargo resupply services to the International Space Station (ISS). Under the Commercial Orbital Transportation System (COTS) program, then Orbital Sciences designed and built Antares, a medium-class launch vehicle; Cygnus, an advanced maneuvering spacecraft, and a Pressurized Cargo Module which is provided by Orbital's industrial partner Thales Alenia Space. Northrop Grumman purchased Orbital in June 2018; its ATK division was renamed Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems.

This is the second-to-last of the eleven flights by Northrop Grumman under the Commercial Resupply Services contract with NASA, and it's considered an extension over the originally contracted flights. This will be the seventh flight of the Enhanced sized Cygnus PCM.

In an Orbital ATK tradition, this Cygnus spacecraft was named the S.S. John Young. He is the only person to fly twice on all main NASA programs which included Gemini, Apollo, and the Space Shuttle. John Young passed away January 5th, 2018 at age 87.

A Northrop Grumman Antares rocket rolled out of its hangar Monday night, riding a self-propelled transporter for a mile-long trip to launch pad 0A on Wallops Island, Virginia, for a predawn liftoff Thursday with a Cygnus supply ship heading for the International Space Station.

But rainy weather and clouds at the launch base on Virginia’s Eastern Shore could prevent a launch Thursday, with forecasters predicting a 70 percent probability of conditions violating the Antares rocket’s launch criteria.

Antares launch from Virginia delayed to Saturday

Officials have pushed back the launch of Northrop Grumman's Antares rocket to Saturday at 4:01 a.m. EST (0901 GMT) as rainy weather and clouds continue to impact the launch site on Virginia's Eastern Shore.

NASA and Northrop Grumman managers decided this morning to skip a launch opportunity Friday morning. Officials previously bypassed a launch attempt Thursday morning, also due to a poor weather forecast.

The rocket is set to lift off with a Cygnus supply ship heading for the International Space Station.

With the launch delay to Saturday, the Cygnus cargo craft's arrival at the station will occur Monday, a day after the docking of a Russian Progress supply ship set for launch Friday.
