Why is it called October Sky does it have to do something with the Soviet or Russian space program.

Some ideas here ?

In 1950's mining town called Coalwood, Homer Hickam is a kid with only one future in sight, to work in the local coalmine like his father. However in October 1957, everything changes when the first artificial satellite, Sputnik goes into orbit. With that event, Homer becomes inspired to learn how to build rockets. With his friends and the local nerd, Homer sets to do just that by trial and a lot of error. Unfortunately, most of the town and especially Homer's father thinks that they are wasting their time. Only one teacher in the high school understands their efforts and lets them know that they could become contenders in the national science fair with college scholarships being the prize. Now the gang must learn to perfect their craft and overcome the many problems facing them as they shoot for the stars. Written by Kenneth Chisholm {[email protected]}

A VC interior for the Soyuz would be SWEEEEEEEEEEEET. Working switches would be great but having the option to display and use MFDs in a VC is just as good in my opinion.

I don't know about that.

Now that's a good movie. Watched in one of my English classes. Based on a true story, I think.

Yes it is a true story. I seen it and it was great. I had a feeling that If this didnt happened. we wouldn't be in space to begin with.

Is anybody know where to see progress of soyuz interior project?

The interior for the soyuz will come after the N1 is finished.

Would people prefer the VC for the LOK or TMA?

Actually, I'll probably end up modelling both, but which would you like first?

I had some unexpected free time tonight, so I made a start on the panel for the Soyuz TMA. It's only very basic (but then again, so is the real thing) and it's only got really basic textures, but it'll get better.

Great! :speakcool: Which dimensions are you using?

I'm currently building a professisonal simpit/simulator for Sojus. Maybe we could exchange information .... send me a pm if you are interested. I have lots of original information (russian and translated).

The panel is not any particular size at the moment, but it will be scaled to fit in the rest of the soyuz cockpit once I've finished it. Any diagrams you have would be greatly appreciated. I haven't got that much yet, but I shar when I get some.

- The european astronaut corps has a very simple mock-up. I was there two weeks ago and got the rough dimensions of the neptune panel. But they are not the original ones, only close-to-original.

- There are two Sojus-TMA simulators, one is in star city near Moscow and the second one is located in Baikonur. Unfortunately I don't have the time to go there right now. But maybe I can find somebody who is in Baikonur on a launch campaign or so.

- Until I have more detaild information, I'm using the sketch depicted in the training manual and scale it with the values from the EAC. This way I'm building a 3D-Model .....

Unfortunately I can't post sojus documentation here in the public. (obvious legal concerns)

Any progress on Soyuz TMA interior project?

:) Hello...just want to know if somebody still making progress on this addon project? Unussapiens or anybody?... I'm still waiting for the real soyuz tma model with VC ;) to be used with orbiter 2006p1.
