Yes well said we are pretty much in the dark but when NASA is sending people to other sources leads us to think but of those have some issues not worked out
NASA is looking into two older ideas to land on the Moon before 2030
The Alpaca and the LM lander are really being looked into again
The LM Lander " Leo" might be the closer of the 2 and it is based on the centaur 5 might be ready for Artemis 4 unmanned then Artemis 5 for the first manned...
I work on the Constellation program for awhile and looks like that might be another way to get back to the Moon before 2030 . Altair Lander was really simple could carry a crew of 4 to the surface and the ascent stage could be reused just send the descent stage with one launch to dock with the...
NASA is in limbo about Artemis but they are thinking about a small Apollo style lander again to try to land on the Moon by 2030..
As you can see a shorter descent stage coupled with an ascent stage based on Orion might be the the way forward. The ascent stage might be reused but the descent...
I did ask Astrolab about the white sides and was told that only one side would have the solar panels and when folded down they would be closed and you would see the back of the panel and it would have the logos on it the the rover would need to be turned so that side would face the sun then...
For me STS 41 C was my favorite Shuttle mission ever.
the Solar Max repair with the MMU was really what the shuttle was made for as for the LDEF deploy
The Mission patch was way cool using the helmet as the back ground
Many thanks to brianj for bring this mission to life in orbiter, really was...
I did see a walk through of the VAST factory and they are really cutting metal and testing a mockup as we speak
they plan to fly Haven 1 to help show NASA they could be the supplier to replace the ISS
Might be time to see a HAVEN 2 which will be bigger with 2 docking ports and will use a...
the weak link in the Artemis mission is the ESA service module, it can not do what the Apollo SM could do. Along with lots of launches the Artemis program is a dead woman walking. the Alpaca or even the Altair lander would be the only way to reach the Moon any time soon. Project Constellation...
If you make this you might check with gattis about his latest Orion. Might think about using the Orion CM on a centaur 5 with solar panels for Artemis 2
Like this idea and might be the way to save Artemis or have a backup for the Dragon. brianj did some DOD sats in 2006 and they might be fun to see launch with this rocket
gattis is right there are a lot of landers and Orions to use and they all look super as well as flex rover LTV and the MEV to use to explore.. It is sort of hard to find a good landing site near the south pole however
