General Question What are .tex files?

ImageMagick recognizes *.tex and a truckload of other formats. On the command line, converting it is as easy as typing 'convert Earth.tex Earth.png', and I imagine GUIs are also available for it.

Cool name? There's only one: Probe.

    Orbiter OS

This seems pointless - Orbiter is portable enough. AFAIR, Orbiter only relies on the 2005 redist, which comes preinstalled on Windows Vista and up. Still, you'd only need a Windows machine and administrator priviledges and lack of both is a pretty rare sight on home machines. You may even get...

Hardware 8800 GTX Auxiliary power prompt and problem

There's an auxiliary (4 or 6 pin) connector at the back of the card, which you'll have to connect to the power supply. I'd guess it's something like this:

Project Arquipelago de Fernando de Noronha - new Earth base

Great! However, IMO, the launch pad should be moved to the far left. (Now we only need an Alcântara Launch Center addon)

Congratulations, you've made a discovery! Now you just need to go there and convince them of their own contradictions. Godspeed.

News Osama Bin Laden Killed (American politics discussion)

Would it be accurate for anyone to take a group of radical christians and infer that christians are evil because that group doesn't get along with muslims/atheists/black people/communists/japanese/jews/<insert group name>?

General Question Do you use UCGO? If so, how?

I'm currently using UCGO for some raytracing tests. They seem to be ideal for that, since their geometry is simple yet visually good, which means less time waiting for the damn thing to render before doing another micro change to the scene...

    Advanced Question Multithreading

Exactly, and I took that screenshot moments before posting. The funny thing is that OGLA is more buggy than the default client in my machine. I haven't used Orbiter for months now, and only fired it up now to test if it works here, so I can't really give a clear picture of how it's performing...

    Advanced Question Multithreading

A bit off-topic, but you may like Arch Linux. See this topic. Default (DX7) renderer on Wine (v1.3.18) and proprietary NVidia drivers (v270.41.06): PAST versions were rated garbage (not in the sense that Orbiter is garbage, but it simply couldn't be run on the time of the test), but the...

    Advanced Question Multithreading

You may be running an outdated version of Wine. I'm running Orbiter on Linux almost flawlessly.

Three rendering tests (camera and object position is the same on all three pics): Raytracing time (high, but not best-possible quality): * Atlantis: 5m * ISS: 17m * XR5: 25m (XR5 texture is screwed up due to, as it seems, missing uv coordinates on some vertices)

Things that others do on the computer, that make you rage.

1 - Hate people who don't want to gain knowledge, damaging others (if they are willingly damaging themselves, who am I to care?); 2 - Hate people bashing people without knowledge or skill (it's fine to bash those without will :P); 3 - Hate people who post (or say) ":censored: XYZ, 'nuff said"...

It's not that the number four is forbidden, but just avoided. It doesn't mean anything bad when Japanese people say it. (really, life without any specific number would be hell)
