Project XR2 Ravenstar - Mk II

well it doesn't have a galley, so there's one thing i can say it doesn't have... Hard for me to believe how many years i've been working on this model now, since i began showing images of it on the m6 board in 2007 - It can take several days just to paint one 2k texture and since i...

Project XR2 Ravenstar - Mk II

well, flying at mach 30 is asking for trouble but it doesn't seem to stop anyone... And it only runs on magic if you want it to. But either way, those are separate self contained engines so its reasonable to imagine there could be room for something like this. The 2 new ground access hatches...

Project XR2 Ravenstar - Mk II

you're basically in an access space - maybe something along the lines of a jefferies tube - between the scrams, under the payload bay. The ladder deploys from the floor of the bay along a tube to enable access from the ground into the bay and also into the CHM (which is getting an interior this...

Project XR2 Ravenstar - Mk II

OK, i have a few updates for you all - start with this area, any ideas where we are located in this shot? Also re-reading one of the comments, just to put peoples minds to rest; i'd like to say something about the 'multiple light sources' which is a myth I neglected to debunk last time. As...

Humor Slow News Day For the Daily Mail

Daily Mail = Most pathetic "Newspaper" in the UK. Full of sensationalist articles with a clear agenda; xenophobia, racism and general ignorance abound within its pages - whether displayed on paper or liquid crystal.

News Japan Earthquake, Tsunami, & Nuclear Disaster

The worst of this particular aspect of the disaster in Japan may be over... Headline from the Guardian: "Japan's fears of nuclear mayhem recede as nuclear reactor starts to cool" http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/mar/12/japan-nuclear-meltdown-fukushima-reactor guess we will wait and see....

Project XR2 Ravenstar - Mk II

LOL. I'm sure everyone who won deserved it one way or another... The unfortunate thing is that the categories were all but setup to have popular franchise work take top billing, i'm surprised i got on there at all, and there are some shocking exclusions - but perhaps i should have posted some...

    Search XR-2 3D Virtual Cockpit

If we're talking special effects, computer generated, there's nothing special about 'James Cameron's' 3d models, at least not in the sense of being more 3d than any other, including any model displayed in Orbiters 3d engine. 3D for PC gaming has been available for far longer than hollywoods...

Project XR2 Ravenstar - Mk II

Ok people exciting XR2 news.... The XR2 received a third place for its WIP thread on SCIFI meshes, "Meshies Awards" (best of 2010) behind a, err, half finished, unpainted Millennium Falcon and a somewhat more interesting WIP that's been running for even longer than even this particular immense...

Project Sasquatch - Heavy Duty Scifi Rover / Explorer

Now there's someone who 'gets' it...:thumbup: Anyone with addon experience who wants to help make this work or simply experiment, either chassis, spacecraft or both. Just send me a PM:hello: and i'll send you some meshes to play with.:)

    Request new XR-ship? (with poll)

And never should their names be forgotten, kinda sad the amount of people who think its just Dougs work, or think that i built all three models. Remember folks, both appeal and immersion are just as much down to the model & textures as the code, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise, because...

Project Sasquatch - Heavy Duty Scifi Rover / Explorer

ok thanks for the great response this has had. Just to address some 'concerns' It wasn't built specifically for orbiter as said before, but it has everything thats needed for orbiter. Needless to say, to those who have been paying attention to my previous posts, you wont have missed the...

Project OGLAClient O2010P1 update (OGLA 110130)

seems sensible, i'm not sure dynamic exposure would work well in this application. my only suggestion then would be to perhaps do something more with the suns glow - the sun itself, not the atmospheric interaction.... to make it appear more intense / photographic without the usability issues.

Project OGLAClient O2010P1 update (OGLA 110130)

wow, stunning work. the shadow in the atmospheric shell is excellent (doesn't seem to apply to the planets surface?), as is the sun glow, very pretty. are you using "HDR" effects?

Project Sasquatch - Heavy Duty Scifi Rover / Explorer

With my trademark Awesome Packer, lets you increase the awesome per poly, per pixel so you can pack roughly 8 times the awesome into the space of a non-coolhand design. Side-effects may include raised heart rate, and a formation of saliva on your keyboard. And though its use generates general...

Project Sasquatch - Heavy Duty Scifi Rover / Explorer

Hello all:hello:... Missed me? I built this for something else, but it may be some time or never before its used to its full potential. Orbiter may have more capability, with perhaps something like orulex providing terrain for it to drive on, i'd be really interested in what Artlav might have...

    Closed-source vs. open-source add-ons

well i'm in agreement 100% with doug, no surprises there. and at least as far as my meshes are concerned, i want to hang onto them... Both the XR2, my mesh, and the XR5 - russ' mesh are entirely new works... The XR1, the DGIV, and moaches own Delta-star, are all derived from the delta...

    Meshing Question GMAX: Spline shaping

hah... well its been a while since i used splines in this way, its not a modelling technique i'd ever recommend... however it is possible to weld spline vertexes together, and often its advisable to do this as it can allow you to easily interpolate the corners, fillet them, etc... however in...
