    OpenGL programming.

I can give you some advice, but first you'll have to tell me all about your secret project.

What simulations do you play beside Orbiter?

I played X-Plane before I found Orbiter. In fact one of the reasons I tried Orbiter was seeing a comment that compared it (favorably) with X-Plane as a real-physics simulator.

    Question What are you reading?

I hope this doesn't violate the spirit of the thread This isn't a book, but a blog with images from early books about space travel. Maybe some of the images will inspire a vessel developer! http://dreamsofspace.blogspot.com/

Is Orbiter dying a slow death ???

I'd like to reinforce two points already explicit or implicit in the earlier comments: 1. Orbiter is not the same as NASA. NASA's political/funding/planning problems don't mean anything to Orbiter. We can be pessimistic or optimistic about the prospects for NASA or any of the world's other...

FOI - Interview with Martin Schweiger

Mac version? Now that the core has been separated from the graphics engine, is it feasible to port orbiter_ng to Mac OS X?

    Rant The hypocrisy of Jobs

I think you missed part of his message. He didn't say that anyone should die, or should want to die. He said, "Death is the destination we all share, no one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be because death is very likely the single best invention of life. ... Your time is...

Real life, Real time, on-station orbit calculations

Somewhat off-topic, but I hope close enough: Extrapolating forward in time, say 50-100 years, when many commercial spacecraft are cruising among the asteroids and visiting bases at Earth/Mars/Jupiter, how will they navigate? Surely they won't rely on Earth-based tracking stations, especially...

    Gaming Chess

Yes, it's real. It's not all that popular in the US (or Europe, I believe), but very popular in Eastern Asia. Japan has many professional players, newspaper columns, etc., similar to chess in US/Europe. There are a few computer versions, to give you an adjustable (and patient) opponent, in case...

    Gaming Chess

I've only played chess occasionally, and so never got very good at it. However, when I found the game of Go, I abandoned chess entirely (though I do like to look at chess sets, as sculptures). It has a much simpler board/pieces/rules, and yet an extremely rich set of strategies. Plus (this is...

Windows 8 developer preview version available

This is all very interesting, and of course a lot of us hate change, but nobody has answered the most important question: How well does it run Orbiter?

    Why do you use Orbiter?

    Because it's ROCKET SCIENCE !!

Software Does anyone know of a mac port for this game?

I run Orbiter on a two-year-old MacBook Pro, using the Boot Camp facility to run Windows XP in a separate partition on the hard drive. I have to reboot, but it works perfectly. Assuming you have an Intel-based Mac, I recommend this approach. If you have a PowerPC Mac, you're out of luck. I've...

    Question What are you reading?

Digital Apollo I recently finished "Digital Apollo: Human and Machine in Spaceflight" by David Mindell. I highly recommend it, especially for descriptions of interactions between astronauts and computers during the Apollo landings, and how each was unique.
