X-38 is really a bit something else. There are still STS payloads not made...
I just go through STS missions, noticed that DSP satellite (STS-44) was cool looking, now with all D3D9 abilities (like environmental mapping) it could be great looking... there are even some 3ds models in Internet...
If X,Y,Z are adjustable it should be OK. Clipping should not be a big issue. Camera is intended to be used after ET separation. But during launch it could also interesting, if using mouse for look-around - mainly down to SRB skirt.
Just wanted to write that I still often (chance ~25 - 30%) do not have vessel shadows (and self shadows). If I reload scenario, it's OK. I use Gattispilot's shuttle's, but it should have nothing to do with this, I think, because reloading works. What causes this is possibly buried deep in a code.
I think ET camera was in that umbilical where either LO2 or LH2 connects with orbiter. Maybe in just one... Just thought by theory, if ET hatch doors are closed, camera should show nothing (covered), but it is not important.
2016 shuttles are really great.
Maybe ET Umbilical Door camera can be added - like KEEL camera, but looking downwards (in real life there were cameras, shooting ET after separation).
Its coordinates could be set in scenario...
BTW wasn't there umbilical door closing switch on R13 panel too in...
Just started to think is there a way to make water less transparent? Looking from KSC - away from the sun (so no reflections) water seems dirty greenish, etc... it is depicted in tiles this way...
Oh yeah, I launched STS flight when a cloud cover was above KSC, oooh, even from 10-15 km altitude, effect is very real, clouds seem like sharp cumulus type of clouds! Huge step (leap!) forwards...
If I remember correctly - research of material for thermal tiles for "Buran", and some other things in this area - i think later some thermo-insulation for ESA also...
I saw and made photos! But nights are still with some twilight even at 1:00 a.m. it gets darker with every night. Comet on 57 deg latitude is always above the horizon.
Yes, that last screenshot is impressive, maybe the flame could be a bit more yellowish... (texture of exhausts, but anyone can change it to his liking, knowing file name), but realistic feeling is there...
Hm, I have forgotten... :) My memory fades... Well, I experiment a bit. I have reached some progress, this KeroExhaust.dds, I mentioned, looks quite nice, combined with particles.
Just tried it again... It's great, except for some particle effects (and maybe cockpit). Main exhaust of the first stage is quite generic, it could be made better even within Orbiter limitations. As it is harcoded unlike in Multistage2015, I can't make changes. Maybe good texture can be used as...
