News Changes to the SpaceX BFR rocket.

1:15 am in Germany... too late for me this night.

Question What games are you playing?

astragon as publisher is somewhat of a red flag for me, Also it looks a lot like a reheat of their previous ship simulator. In case of ship simulations, I always look for a good one, that doesn't aim primarily for a professional, well-paying, audience like Nautis. "Destroyer: The U-Boat...

    Updates Artemis II

Pardon? I am a little bit confused of what you mean and why, can you elaborate? To me, the crew design sounds perfectly right. After all, its NASA, the crew is supposed to do more than just being "spam in a can".

Problem My vessel DLL crashes on launch, but only sometimes

Better: In the constructor of the class. Its your job in C++ to initialize all member variables and references / pointers there.

Problem My vessel DLL crashes on launch, but only sometimes

I would check your build paths, maybe your DLL doesn't get updated on every build. Especially check if you create x86 and x64 at the same time. Also, I would check if you have the compiler flags set correctly.

Do you use a overexpanded texture there?

News NASA's Future: The News and Updates Thread

As far as I know, the Smithsonian is specifically no part of any of the three branches of government. So yes, that argument can matter a lot. Of course, things look different if the Smithsonian board agrees on giving Discovery away. Maybe some small legal challenges could come up in a normal...

    Project N1 Lunar

Thats also what I meant with no reserves. In Apollo, you still have a pretty performance margin (especially for the first landings) that allows compensating for some errors during the missions or less optimal trajectories. For the N1-LK/LOK flight profile, you have almost none. Thats also why I...

Thats all inclusive for the Russian space program experience. Yes, your fuel really matters.

    Gaming Reentry

The Reentry simulation of Gemini isn't very realistic or at least, true to the spacecraft. The GDC for example uses completely fictional addresses and the software is only coarsely behaving like the real programs. The cockpit layout is completely generic and doesn't represent any of the flown...

Maybe interesting for some people here as well, this video shows well how R&D and manufacturing were like before computers became common place.

    Project Space Shuttle Vessel

The introduction might be a bit math heavy sometimes, but it sure explains a lot about the principles of the different kinds of rendezvous with the Shuttle. And yes, the number of burns is mostly for not wasting propellant while not having precise knowledge about position and speed of yourself...

    Project Space Shuttle Vessel

Do you know in general how to rendezvous with other vessels? Its not mandatory, but makes it easier to understand the rendezvous operations. Also, can this report help you? https://ntrs.nasa.gov/api/citations/20240003182/downloads/Introduction%20To%20Space%20Shuttle%20Rendezvous.pdf (I'd...

    Project N1 Lunar

Since the N-1 was terribly short on performance, I would always pick the soonest time to jettison something, most likely you are right by that. But in case of the SOZ thrusters and their function for providing a short ullage burn to settle the propellants before the Blok D engine can start, the...

So many addons that do not work

@Boxx Yes, or simply put: If you want people to use your add-on, you have to provide scenarios, examples and manuals. Also, I don't mind people publishing even better scenarios involving one or more add-ons. It just adds more value to all of them. What we currently can't do, is defining which...
