    Installation Correct File Paths

None of the MFD's would appear in launcher, so just decided to delete everything and start with a fresh install. Hopefully that should clear everything up. Thanks for the help. Dave K

    Installation Correct File Paths

Hi thanks for the reply. I tried putting them into the main orbiter folder, the one that has the orbiter.exe file, but nothing shows up on the launchpad. Do I copy each file in say the Config folder to the Config folder in orbiter. Do I have to do that with each folder within the add-on ...

    Installation Correct File Paths

Hi all, been awhile, but I have a fresh install on a different computer. I know this may sound like a stupid question...the basic install was fine. All the MFD add ons are extracting to my desktop. What are the correct file paths to install all the different add on files into Orbiter. Just...

    Discussion Challenger Disaster 30th Anniversary

Unfortunately, I remember all three, yes, im old. For the Challenger disaster we were sitting at Pope AFB getting ready to go fly some airdrops with the army. We watched it Base Ops. Within an hour we were refueled and waiting to be released to Patrick for SAR operations. We sat for a couple of...

Question Is it possible to land a Boeing 747 being a layman

Fun thread. Most transport category aircraft are pretty easy to fly with all the automation working...autopilot, autothrottles, flight director. It's just a matter of dialing this number, pushing that button, etc... in the right sequence. With autobrakes and autoland, the plane will track the...

Question Wind speed limit in commercial aviation ?

Airlines and manufacturers set wind limits for airplanes. While not familiar with all airlines, many will prohibit take-off or landing with winds over 50kts. Each airplane will have a maximum demonstrated crosswind. For a 737-800, it is 33kts. Triple 7, 38kts. Each airline may then further...

Question Do we have any commercial pilots here?

The 1500 hr requirement is for part 121 operations (scheduled air carrier operations). It wont apply for non scheds, part 135, air taxi and business operations. Once you have your commercial ticket, working for an air taxi or part 135 operation will build your time toward the ATP minimum...

Question Do we have any commercial pilots here?

Hi Ark, I'm an airline pilot...former military. been in this business for 30 years...contact me off list, I'll be more than happy to discuss things with you. As Len Morgan use to say years ago..."learning to fly today is just as expensive as in years gone buy, it takes every penny you've got."...

News 767 Belly Landing in Poland

There are only two methods to lower the gear. The normal method is hydraulic and the alternate is gravity. The only electrical function is to unlock the doors and uplocks and allow the gear to free fall. This is the system description from a 767 Operating Manual: Landing Gear Alternate...

News 767 Belly Landing in Poland

Hi all, Just a little clarification. First, I'm have not read any reports of what the crew told the controllers was the issue with the gear, jammed, no hydraulics, etc. It's been about 8 years since I've flown the 767/757 aircraft, and there have been two other Boeing aircraft since then. That...

News 767 Belly Landing in Poland

Yes, very nicely done...it will be interesting to find out how multiple redundant systems failed. The final extension method is freefall, gravity...wonder how that one failed? Dave K

Hi, Dont know if you've been following the off topic thread "Calling all orbinauts". There is a project being spearheaded by a grad student that wants to send hundreds of tiny satellites into very LEO to test some theories that started by observing dust particles. Each thing would transmit up to...

    Science Calling on all orbinauts

We could have the name Orbiter Fleet but transmit....well, PROBE has 5 letters...how about ORB. I dont think we're going to miss out on anything. The minimum for funding is $30,000. The more the project makes, the less it has to beg NASA for a launch slot. Dave EDIT: Or how about DMS for Dr...
