Potentially dumb question so I apologize if I'm wasting anyone's time but is there a Reentry Autopilot somewhere i can download that's basically set and forget? AFAIK IRL reentry is never flown by hand so i'd like a reentry AP that just let's me set it up and watch from the cockpit. is there any such addon anywhere?

Glideslope is great but it doesn't automatically manage S turns. and AFAIK aerobrake doesn't even have an autopilot so I feel like there's nothing out there that i can find. 😅

Im mostly flying the XR series (DG, XR2 and XR5) btw.

I think you have that in a couple of 'in depht' Space Shuttle addons, at least something that mimics the real computer modes. Haven't heard about something doing S-turns autonomously for DG-style spacecraft though.

The thing is that there are many variables. The spacecraft mass (fueled, not fueled), the aerodynamics etc...

back in 2010 there was an auto pilot that worked super and did all the deorbit burns and S turns and would land the shuttle at KSC or VBG it was super to watch and track the shuttle back in the day AFCS I think was what it was called

Yes, but it only worked with the Shuttle Fleet add-on AFAIR...

yes we really need something like this in 2016 and 2024

Hard to do, since you already needed to customize this for the spacecraft you want to land in 2010 (only working with at least similar spacecraft at best). I think, it would be better, if the spacecraft could define their own low level autopilot function and control loops, and such MFDs only add high-level navigation and guidance functions.

But that is still hard to do, without many custom callbacks or event handlers.

There is/was something like that for the more advanced Delta-Glider models. Not as an MFD, but as an onboard computer. You had a series of codes to input , to start the right "program" etc

Codes to input sounds like DG4. The XR series just has some MFD pages to select.
