Orbiter 2024 Release

There is Pitch/Roll autopilot (where the temp. display is), and with the other page on AerobrakeMFD you can see what G's and max heating is coming up, adjust pitch smoothly to prevent overheating and adjust for over/undershoot (no roll maneuvers neccessary). Takes a bit of practise to get the feeling for it, I think there should be some good videos if you do a search, David Courtney made some very good ones.

Is it normal that the "Space Shuttle to ISS" scenario located in "Tutorials" (Orbiter 2024) ends in an unexpected moment (without docking)?:

I tried it several times. Or maybe I broke this recorded scenario somehow. Can anyone try it?

I looked at the corresponding file in archived Orbiter 2024 and it ends it the same place, so it seems I haven't broken anything.

Just wondering why there's a space for "station" word in a scenario inscription whereas it doesn't in the SCN file:

I noticed it in several places.

Also, I get the errors when enable the Script MFD API-Test:

Phobos Deimos ground contact.
Looks like this issue:
still persists in the official Orbiter2024 release too. Any prolonged ground contact (10-20s) results in a "soft NaN" effect, and confirm that this is not the case with Orb16. There's also a pinch pole anomaly on Deimos.

Is there a development progress report other than on github?

Short answer, no, this had not been addressed to the best of mt knowledge. If it's what I think it is, than I know how to solve it.

I  believe we are checking for the closest planet by checking for the strongest gravity contributor. If that is indeed the case, we can use a slightly less performant method, checking for the primary gravity contributor, then checking if it has any children (tree) that we are closer too.

Big if though. And I don't see why that would be the case in 2024 but not 2016?

I thought they'd be the same but O24 has different meshes and apparently different ground detection code. I tried a quick exchange (.cfgs are the same) but that results in problem 1 above, incorrect ground detection and fps loss.

🎉 Congratulations on the release of Orbiter 2024! This is truly a major event for space simulation enthusiasts. Taking this opportunity, I’ve also compiled information on our nation's upcoming academic forums in the space sector for 2025, hoping to provide some reference and discussion material for friends in the forum.

📅 2025 China Space Conference

This conference will be held from April 23 to 26, 2025, at the Shanghai World Expo Conference Center, with the theme "The Moon Rises Over the Sea, We Reach for the Stars in the Heavens." It is a professional, comprehensive, and international industry event jointly organized by the Chinese Society of Astronautics and the China Aerospace Foundation.I wish your country a close look at the situation

Key highlights of the conference include:

  • Academic Leadership: The conference will release the "2025 Research Progress on Key Scientific Issues and Technical Challenges in the Aerospace Field" and has published the book "Advancing Future Aerospace Technology: Research Progress on Key Scientific Issues and Technical Challenges in the Aerospace Field (Part I)." This work tracks and showcases research advancements on 50 previously identified scientific issues and technical challenges, such as outer heliosphere exploration, in-orbit additive manufacturing, in-orbit assembly of ultra-large space optical devices, and long-distance high-power wireless energy transmission.
  • Cutting-Edge Focus: The main forum will bring together global authoritative experts to focus on global hot topics such as space science issues, Mars exploration, and AI-enabled aerospace, demonstrating China’s latest technological breakthroughs and international cooperation achievements in aerospace.
  • Integration of Practice and Industry: The conference includes academic forums, industry dialogues,前沿 exhibitions, and popular science activities. It will address engineering challenges such as low-orbit satellite constellations and heavy reusable space transportation systems, analyzing paths for technological implementation and commercial applications.

📅 Other Related Academic Conferences

  1. 2025 International Conference on Aerospace, Space Exploration, and Astronomy (ICASEA 2025):
Will be held in Baoding, China, in 2025. The conference aims to provide a platform for experts and scholars in related fields to share scientific research achievements and cutting-edge technologies. Papers will be indexed and included in databases such as Scopus and EI Compendex. Discussion topics will cover aerospace (e.g., propulsion systems, satellite dynamics), space exploration (e.g., deep-space exploration technologies), and astronomy (e.g., astrophysics, cosmology), among others.
  2. 2025 International Conference on Aerospace, Space Security, and Space Environment (ICASSSE 2025):
Will be held in Nanjing, China, in 2025. The conference aims to promote research, development, and scientific information exchange in the fields of aerospace, space security, and the space environment. Papers will also be indexed and included in databases such as Scopus and EI Compendex. Discussion topics will involve space security (e.g., aircraft design and airworthiness technology) and the space environment (e.g., space physics, space exploration technologies), among others.

Has anyone noticed the following issue with the default Atlantis (both DLL and Lua version) with Orbiter 2024? I launch an Atlantis scenario and it jumps on a launch pad. I have another Orbiter 2024 installation and everything is OK.

I have that problem. I start those scenarios paused as a work around.

Hi All,
Apologies if this is in the wrong thread.
Can't get the Lua Console option to display in Function tab of scenario.
All seems to be there as below, but maybe missing something elsewhere?
Any ideas please?
This is on windows 11. All works fine on windows 10.
