Not sure if there's another topic announcing it (I didn't see any).

Chris Kraft, Jr. has passed away. He was 95.

Godspeed, Mr. Kraft. Rest in peace.

Just saw this on my news feed. At least he got to stay long enough for the 50th.

My understanding is, for people who die of old age, it is not uncommon for them to fight for life until some significant event, then let go. My grandmother died within 24 hours after my aunt brought my then-newborn cousin to her bedside.

The first flight director of US space agency Nasa has died at the age of 95 - days after 50th anniversary celebrations of the first Moon landing.
Chris Kraft, who joined Nasa in 1958, developed the planning and control processes for crewed space missions.
He set up Nasa's Mission Control operations to manage America's first manned space flight and the subsequent Apollo missions to the Moon.
"His legacy is immeasurable," Nasa chief Jim Bridenstine said.

This was always my favorite picture of him. His book reads more like a hitlist, always admired his outspoken attitude. Godspeed, Red Flight!
