Watching the TV with a 7 year old...

How stoned do you have to be for The Amazing World of Gumball to make sense?
Gravity Falls though, that's a riot!

Man, time flies:

I registerd on the 2nd of June, so what happened I think is I was home from school, and discovered/decided to try this new-fangled "Orbiter" thing.

I think it was the year of the great migration.

The Great M6-o-clysm. I can't believe it was that long ago now.

The weird thing I remember is that there were several imposter accounts set up here to settle scores for grudges people carried over from M6. Some clown registered with Urwumpe's user name before Urwumpe himself migrated here, for example, and proceeded to wreak havoc for a few days until the admins straightened it out. Ah, the Internet...

When I moved over to OF, somewhat later than a lot of others, I saw one of the posts from the impostor, with Urwumpe's avatar and the name "Banned user", and thought "WTF? Urwumpe got banned?" It was believable, because in the pre-basement M6 days, it wasn't altogether uncommon for fairly longstanding community members to get into an acrimonious spat with somebody and engage in abuse that crossed the line with the admins, but it was still somewhat of a shock. And then, of course, it turned out not to really be Urwumpe.

The Basement really made the community a much friendlier place without outright banning discussion of controversial topics, as is done on a lot of other forums. The difference between OF and M6 in that regard is night and day.

Yes, on M6 if you didn't get banned once in a while you weren't really having much fun I guess.

Also common were technical issues galore. Always some kind of bug or problem.

But there was a lot of useful information there for developers and others. Martins kept it up for reference for quite a while after the migration for that reason.

Today is the 20th anniversary of the deadly Eschede high-speed train accident... damn, am I getting old. In a few weeks, its 20 years since I joined the army.

I thought you were in the army in the late 80s? I always figured you, me, and PhantomCruiser were about the same age.

 No, not that old. In the late 80s, I was around 10.

Had I stayed in the NAVY, I could have retired last year with 30 years in.

At least I'm not the oldest one here
