Greetings all,

It's been a very crazy summer, I had a roommate take advantage of personal documents and virtually steal my identity, leading up to closing my company and things went downhill from there..

On the good side, I was able to keep myself moving forward in life and moved to Florida a few months ago to start a new chapter of my life!

With that, I am looking to start working on my Orbiter website, in fact I was thinking to build a new one all together on my new server to reduce downtime and alike. So I am reaching out to YOU, to ask if anything below sounds useful as I can start work to implement solutions - also to ask if there is anything that would be helpful which is not listed.

- Download Repository: I would keep hosting files for download, currently my site spits out around 3terra per month of bandwidth and I'd make room for the additional files).

- Torrent Repository: I have a commercial space at the new office in Florida, I could easily host torrents here in the server room from a fully commercial grade facility.

- Orbiter Directory: I've setup a few very stable and easy to use directories, I could make one that would work kind of like Yelp and include social media links / ect. This would be a way for everyone with orbiter sites to be linked in one location.

- Orbiter Gallery: An easy to use, image gallery where members could post images to a nice looking user interface.

- FAQ Section: An faq area which could work for game usage, also updated by members so it can be very in-depth.

- News Feed: A way for authorized members to post news & updates which would blast (automatically) to dedicated Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn networks. Additionally it has RSS and works as a conventional blog.

- News Aggregate: Developers of add-ons who have an RSS enabled website (of their own) could have their news automatically replicated onto the site, thus they could post and my site would automatically replicate the post however link it to THEIR website (I don't steal traffic that way).

- Homepages For Developers: If a developer needs their own homepage for their efforts, the website could easily offer a space for that.

- Orbiter URL Shortener: Basically just a URL shortener, however branded for Orbiter.

.. That's most of the ideas I have in mind for things I could add, I'd like to hear feedback and ideas?

Thanks all, fly safe!

Eric

I like the news feed idea, although it would require developers to set up RSS feeds which AFAIK don't really exist at the moment. Nonetheless, it would be cool to have sort of an instant update on any projects I'm following without having to search the forum for threads.

As a developer I like the homepage for us.

Thanks :) Good to hear the feedback!

Developers could also take a homepage on the website, that would provide the same end result. The homepages can be as simple as one page, a blog and navigation buttons back to their own website if they have one, or built out to have all of their content and alike housed at that location.

I've just finished setting up the basic configuration for the SSL certificate for the new website :p

Something else I could PROBABLY also add on, yourname@orbiterwebsitename email forwarders. I'd have to think over the logistics, but everyone could have an email address on my new website that forwards emails to their current email address.
