Hello Fred18, thanx for the quick answer. For the problem about the heading close to 0, i've noticed that yesterday evening too. I've 'fixed" this rotating the rocket and the pad at +/- 90°. Easyly done with scn editor. I've had a polar orbit 795 x 805 at 88.5° from KLC and CSSC.

One thing that is not clear enough for me : when i delete de PAYLOAD name at the PAYLOAD line in a scenario file, and give the 0 value to FAIRINGON, i can see the rocket without any fairing or payload. That's cool ! But if i want to put another payload, i must give the name of the payload in the scn file, AND in the cfg file of the rocket (f.e. JARVIS_C\DEFAULT)? Is that right ?

I'll test with Antares this evening. It's realy one of the coolest addons !

Cheers

I'm finding the autopilot to be smooth and ACCURATE!

However, you can't set a PeA of more than 500ish km easily.
Not a big problem, just FYI you may need 2 burns to reach higher orbits.

Did you create Symbolic Links?

"latest"= which version?

Now you say it, I think this is the problem. I've copied my Orbiter installation to my new Windows installation and I think the old symbolic links are still present. I will update them this evening!

wait, the issue should not be present for heading close to 0 but for heading very close to 90°. so there should be no need of rotating the launch pad or anything for polar orbits, just put inclination 90°. (and the azimuth (=heading) will be close to zero)

the issue is for orbits that have an azimuth (not an inclination) very very close to 90°, so the inclination very very close to the launch latitude (talking about thousandth of degree). it that case my suggestion is to simply put 0 in the inclination, and the jarvis guidance computer will choose the lowest inclination possible (which is the launch latitude) solving all the matters

Is that right ?

i'm not sure I understood it correctly. Anyway, I built the payload management very similar to the Vinka one, to be userfriendly to most of the community.

so for your payload you have to write an .ini file (or edit and save with another name one of the included ones) with all the information of your payload, such as meshname, name, module, offset etc etc (see payload file in the documentation)
then you can save it wherever you want (but i suggest to put it in the config folder of your jarvis, folder not file!) for example the default payload file for jarvis b is /Config/Jarvis_B/Default.ini

and once is saved add the line PAYLOAD_FILE to the scenario file, so when the simulation starts the program will know where to look for the payload file, and then load the proper payload.

to clarify it please check the Jarvis H config folder and scenarios (including the verrazzano moon mission). I think it will clarify a lot! in case you have doubts just ask

I'll test with Antares this evening. It's realy one of the coolest addons !
:tiphat: remember to give a shot to the emergency abort procedure, I spent a lot of time implementing it, I think is a nice effect with the explosion the release of the capsule etc

However, you can't set a PeA of more than 500ish km easily.

I don't think it's strictly needed. Direct orbit insertion requires a lot of energy and PEG was designed for Low Parking orbits. It's way less costly for the rocket to insert itself into low orbit and then raise its absides with further burns. Anyway you can always try to increas the GTVACC and see what happens ;)

This fixed it. Thanks everyone!

Again, great launcher family! I'm going to plan some big missions for them

One oddity that I came up with was with the space plane. Launch was flawless but when I tried to do a re-entry, I figured I'd try a shuttle style 40 degree attitude, dropped by PeA to around 48k over the target area and expected the re-enter. What actually happened though was that the spacecraft generated so much lift that it actually propelled me back into orbit The only way to get down was to re-enter at a suicidal nose-down attitude. I am guessing it is still a work in progress but I thought I would mention that.

Did you perform any rolls during entry? All space planes are like that, you have to execute several rolls during entry to control your descent rate.

The shuttle did four major rolls during entry to manage the energy and cross range.

One of my favorites just got even better! Love the eyecandy! Really appreciate the failure simulation: adds a little tension to launches; wish there was more of it in orbiter. And the Delphinus is cool! Took it for a little spin, early manual abort and glide to the strip, nice stage 1 explosion below. :) Panicked a little as I couldn't find the airbrakes! but it has parachutes! Quick test VS over -11m/s!
Looking forward to further developments.

I actually tried a few S-turns but I found that if there was any positive attitude at all, I would find myself climbing. I literally went from an orbit with a PeA of 48k to a PeA of over 100k! I was descending normally until about 65k and then started to climb and actually re-achieved orbit - albeit a dangerously low orbit.

In the Delphenis launch in bonus scenario. During accent when I press F to jettison the fairing, then I press spacebar twice, it CTD.

Whenever I try to perform a pad-abort:

oYaBjEC.png

The Italian coast disapears, and Antares slides over the ground.

This also happens with Delphinus.

And a little nitpick:

TdDag0L.png

The wings of Delphinus are comming through the fairing.

Keep up the good work!

Bug confirmed, already found the reason in the code (during the abort sequence it tries to jettison fairings but it can't do it if they are already jettisoned manually). Will be fixed in the next release, thank you!

Pad aborts are not implemented, they could be in the future, will try to make them work for next release.

About the wings I never noticed and I didn't do the 3d design, I will take this to FOI asking for an adjustment ;)

ABOUT DELPHINUS REENTRY:

I managed to do it couple of times with roll turns. Anyway the design of Delphinus is not from me, it is from FOI (3d and details), I just had the kind permission to add it to the package. I will ask to FOI for a reentry procedure, in the meantime Delphinus is done with Spacecraft3, so I think that suggestions coming users side about how to modify the numbers will be welcome to the FOI creators!

Sounds similar to the other spaceplane from FOI, the Eridanus. That thing generates just stupid amounts of lift and requires s-turn rolls that are borderline silly to keep it from just bouncing off the atmosphere.

But just tried this out, tried to launch an Antares on Jarvis L from Cape passero into a 450x65 km orbit, and this happens at lift off....here a big BOOM, the thing goes to plaid, and then sim crash.

That's strange, never happened.

could you please provide:

- scenario you're testing
- log file

and please try it again to see if it happens all the time or just once?

thank you

using the scenario that comes with the package. Also happens when i try to add it into a custom scenario. So far I am 4 for 4 in this happening. I will do it again and post a log file.

Anyway an orbit of 450 x 65 won't work properly: if the apogee is above 260 km the guidance will target the perigee for cutoff. but if the perigee is 65 km you will have cutoff inside the atmosfere.

my recommendation is an orbit of 450 x 100 or an orbit of 250 x 65 and then perform further burns

That's weird, never happened to me or to anyone, let me try to investigate

Yeah, I tried other scenarios. The ASV one, even just did the non-payload ones that launch from Sicily, all of them fail in the same manner I posted about earlier.

From the very first rapid look I notice only:
Code:
UMMUFA: Jarvis_H added to blacklist - Has no docking ports
UMMUFA: antaresLR added to blacklist - Native UMMU compatible
UMMUFA: PadJb added to blacklist - Has no docking ports

But it happens only when launching from Capo Passero in Sicily right? in cape canaveral everything is fine, correct?

that's strange... what about disabling all the modules and try enabling one by one? I know it's boring but it could show us what's wrong :compbash2:
