This is a photo of a Jupiter size planed, but it's much hotter than earth:
around 510K.

But however, it's incredible how fast they are progressing in this topic...
I think with the next generation of instruments we will see much colder planets.

Advancing fast indeed. Can you possibly imagine the results from JWST successor?

JWST is similar to Spitzer in the wavelengths it observes while Hubble focuses on visible light with little capability to see in infrared and ultraviolet light. This is the pipe dream for the future generation, flagship-class, general purpose space observatory.
ATLAST will have an angular resolution that is 5 - 10 times better than JWST and a sensitivity limit that is up to 2,000 times better than HST.
ATLAST is more closely related to Hubble than JWST. Although the successor to JWST will be an improvement, JWST is theoretically capable of detecting the atmospheres of nearby transiting exoplanets.

The Subaru Telescope as mentioned in the article is a ground based observatory. Both Europe and America's next generation ground based telescopes, EELT and TMT respectively, have been approved recently. Those telescopes are planned to see first light in 2022.

Space observatories are able to get sharp images over a wide field of view, but with adaptive optics, much larger observatories on the ground may now be able to resolve some objects better than Hubble.

This thread is belongs in the astronomy forum because it's not really related to spaceflight.
