New Release Interplanetary Modular Spacecraft RC9

Of course it is. It's about two years away from being finished, and I never published a link except in the development group ;)

2 Years?

"Nothing is worth doing except what the world says is impossible." - Oscar Wilde
"The one who says it cannot be done, should not interrupt the one doing it." - Chinese Proverb
"It's kind of fun to do the impossible." - Walt Disney
"I have learned to use the word 'impossible' with the greatest caution." - Wernher von Braun

I have these 4 quotes on the wall in my cubical at work because when someone says something can't be done, or that its impossible, it ends up on my desk.. and then goes out the door in a week or 2. ;)

I want to believe that IMS2 will go out the door at the same time as Orbiter 2015 leaves beta. ;)

PeterRoss,

What is the "Ultimate IMS config pack (2013-10-07)" in your signature?

I think it's the latest IMS 1.0 package of modules, sorted in directories by functionality with the latest patches and upgrades and changes applied to them.

Is it different from the d/l on the OP?

It includes all the modules from the original IMS 1.0 but some of them are somewhat changed in terms of how much mass they are and/or what some of the resource generators generate (Hydroponics modules are much heavier but generate more than just food for instance).

There are also a few NEW modules that don't exist anywhere else.

The modules are listed in directories by their type, so it's much easier to build a whole mess of BM101's for instance because FINDING the BM101 in the original list requires a lot of patience.

It is definitely worth the download and installation.

It's just as our humongous shipbuilder said, but mind the date. I don't know if it's still compatible with IMS in the year of 2015 AD.

Someone said something about IMS2? :shifty:

Haven't seen you around here in ages, and as soon as there's the first public mention of IMS2 you pop back in! :hello:

I was going to try to contact you by PM as soon as the thing was solidly on the road. The state has not changed much since we left off, but I am now again dedicated to the project, and been crunching on it for a few weeks (mostly reworked the whole GUI to make future feature implementations a lot faster).

If you want on board again, you'd be more than welcome. We even have a proper repository and all that this time!

There's the little bit of trivia about me working 3 days a week, going to school another 3 days per week, and having two toddlers, one of them with special needs.
There's "impossible", and then there's "irresponsible mental health hazard".

Is it different from the d/l on the OP?

They've been the same since RC9.

Anyways, download link... currently not only the link is down, but the whole ge.tt site. So something's going on over there. I'll give it another day to see how it develops.

Then count me in, skipper. And - glad to see you all again, guys:)

Great, I sent you an invite to the new group. There's not all that much there yet, but it'll help you to get oriented a bit, and to get the source code. You'll probably have questions, just fire away. Looking forward to working with you again!

Welcome back!

Can you spot the 'tiny' XR5? :) This is what it looked like after mission 230. I'm up to 245 although I haven't flown any new missions since Christmas 2014.

Good to see you're still making a great job scaring aliens away from our solar system by your colossal constructions

This 'tiny' thing? You should see my Solar System Transport Vehicle. It isn't as big in size, but you can attach 17.5 XR5's worth of cargo pallets to it. Just thinking about all those docking ports can be a bit scary.

This is SSTV-01 docked to the ISS during Mission #1. Notice in the closeup you can see some of the multitude of cargo pallet connectors, empty.

I have just finished up SSVT-02 which uses a all Hyper-Engine propulsion system instead of a mixed system like SSTV-01.

Plan is for SSTV-02 to make a 100 day transit from Lunar orbit to Pluto sometime in 2016. That's what you can do when you have 78.6 Mm/s of delta V.... You saw that right, 78.6 Mm/s... I may build them HUMONGOUS, but I build 'em fast also. ;) So much for Jedidia's 'Just another Mars Ship' problem. ;)

I see what you mean. And my imagination is showing me a picture of dozens of people working in this trussed jungle on maintenance duty. It could have been a suberb Moonbase Alpha-style multiplayer game.
I guess it will take weeks for you alone just to connect cargo containers to all these connectors.

Ever thougth of building a Dyson sphere?

Ge.tt is back up, and so is the download link.

Woo hoo!!!

As a note, tomorrow (Sunday) is my 50th b-day and I've got b-day activities planned for the entire weekend. This means I probably won't get to play much this weekend with the IMS2 task you have assigned me to look into Jedidia. I'll see if I can spend a few minutes with it this evening.

I think someone DID post the quote "That's not a space station, that's a moon!" When they saw my Lunar Station after 108 missions. It's now 3x as massive and will end up being 6x as massive from its current state when I'm done.

I just need to find the time to fly another 3,250 XR5 missions from Brighton Beach...

Possible bug report with the latest Beta version of Orbiter... I can't seem to get the cockpit to do anything. I have four dark boxes in my view, but that's it. Any ideas?
