Wow, sounds like a good idea and very fun to use. A screenshot would be nice so I can visually see what I'm downloading, however. So until then...

Just a box that unpacks into a spacegate (couldn't find the ground gate mesh)

updated with a screenshot and changed box to a default one.

I just like to see what I'm downloading. :)

AT 2.13 KB, I think you can afford to take the chance...

Me, I just want to know if it's a functional gate, or just the packed mesh with a basic config...

I just packed the RagTagFleet Stargate into a ucgo cargo, you need the rtf stargates, which are fully functional, for this to work

It's a UCGO config file. That's it.

Dan provided the ability to pack anything into UCGO with a couple of changes to the lines of the configs.

I did this ages ago with the Prelude. I even edited the textures to make it more interesting but never thought it worthy of 'addon' status.

Why would you even need this? The DHD allows you to deploy a gate anywhere you want. You can even have a UMMU deploy it. According to your picture it's also deploying a space gate on the ground which just looks crappy. A gate list is built from the scn file or when you deploy a new gate. Is the unpacked gate recognized by the DHD? It sure isn't getting the correct base.

Do not complain to the fleet or any fleet members when it doesn't work as expected. You guys are on your own with this one. There will be no support for problems with this method of deployment.

That was a little harsh, don't you think?

Why? In my opinion the gate add-on is being used in a way that degrades from the original add-on . The add-on has the ability to spawn a gate where ever you want so why pack one into a box?

Besides, I'm not asking it be removed. I'm only saying I'm not going to support it if someone has problems using the gates this way and and I can see from the picture that it in fact does not work as intended because what is shown is a grounded space gate and not the proper ground gate. In fact it doesn't even look like a complete space gate because the station keeping thrusters are missing from one side.

The base mesh switches between a ground base and a space base depending on the deploying vessel being grounded. I have no idea what state UCGO boxes are at and the fact that the DHD isn't doing the deployment would mean that the base isn't being properly set. The ground base mesh is QJSGBase and it can be forced by a parameter file value. If remember correctly it is BASE 1 for the ground base and BASE 0 for the space base.
