Question Ubunutu question(s)

Mojoey has said that he doesn't have administrative access to his computer. Either there's an existing CD burning program already installed or he's out of luck.

If i right click the .iso windows gives me the option to burn disc image, then lists the CD-ROM drive I have...
oh, and the duster/flame retardant gear was a reference to the sheer amount of dust this thing has collected

There's no need to use optical drives. You can "burn" the ISO on a USB flash drive and boot it just like a liveCD. If you're doing this from windows, just use Pendrivelinux.

If you can burn it to a CD (and you have a CD) then just go ahead and try it (assuming the CD isn't important for you, of course).

He's already said that he can't do that, due to administrative restrictions on his account on the machine whose OS is in working order.

Just as an aside, if you are going to use Linux, I highly :salute:highly:salute: recommend Linux Mint 12 KDE--64 bit version if you can run it:)

If you're going to use a Linux-based OS, I highly reccomend a Free distribution of GNU/Linux (that's pronounced "G-N-U forward slash Linux"), as approved by http://www.gnu.org/distros/free-distros.html .

Of course, if it's your first time with a Unix-like OS, there is no choice. Go with Ubuntu, or it'll end in frustration.
