Okay, roof of hotel needs torches. Got it. :)

EDIT: Alright, just added another 35 torches to the roof of the hotel. Hopefully it is now creeper proof!

Also, a took a screenshot of the theater district as it stands now. It represents about two weeks of work (the hotel I'm standing on was 4 days by itself) and I think is pretty awesome. Enjoy!

I'm planning on a large underground build on the island south of the commune in the future. I plan to recreate, to the best that I can, the Swan Station from LOST. After I decided on this build, I checked YT and there are some that have built it, but I saw some things I will do differently.

Trying out a new (and excellent!) water shader. It makes the water looks simply stunning, and I haven't noticed too much of a hit to the fps.

I started my Aquatica inspired home southeast of the theater district. Besides some wood planking what you see now is going to be the only part of the structure above water. I'm going to try to figure out a minecart system to get livestock into one of the underwater pens when I'm done.

Fireballs, that shader would probably kill my laptop lol. Very nice though.

Nice work Arrowstar! Unfortunatly a creeper took out one of the walls while I was exploring sorry about that. :(
Blane(Seguso): Your expansion is starting to make my house feel very small and insignificant. and one of your fences blocks my route from my staircase to the commune, could you have a look at that

I have no plans to enhance much further in ways that are visual. In fact, I will likely remove the entire top of the mansion and convert it to farmland.

Also, I assume you mean the fences at the front (northeast-side). These are just temporary, I will eventually remove them. I was merely checking out where the borders of the public park should be that go south of the treefarm. Feel free to remove a piece of fence to get through for now.

Umm... don't you think you could have put that a bit farther away? :(

I have some plans for expansion, and I was rather hoping that other people would build elsewhere so that they don't ruin the look of the area. Also, Blane will be sad that you're sticking stuff in his view.

Arrowstar: Sorry, I didn't see it spawn
Fireballs: I know, its great, I use the water shader mod as well.
Blane: Dont sweat it, I need to mark out the entrance to it better anyway.

The world has an infinite size and you all build everything within one square kilometer. Nice.
The problem isn't so much building within one square kilometer (which is actually quite a lot of space) it's that everyone is building within 500 square meters or so of spawn.

I agree that building right on top of each other is unnecessary and annyoing, but going too far the other direction is pointless too--sure, there's infinite space, but if everyone expanded sufficiently far that no one ever ran across anyone else...well, at that point you might as well be playing single player.

Part of the point of multiplayer is to share both creativity and resources with each other, and if you're so far away that all you can really share is pictures...well, like I said, might as well be on single player.

So yeah, "please don't build right next to/on top of/under" is a perfectly reasonable request (and if someone becomes very problematic about it, I will take action). But "please don't build anywhere within line of sight/load distance of me" is a little greedy, and if you don't want to see anyone else ever perhaps you're the one that should've gone further out before building.

So yeah, Arrowstar? He's 80-something units away from you. If that's not enough space, I don't really know what is.

But on the other hand--usmc3891? I assume that the cobble you've used to build that is temporary and will be replaced with an actual building material soon? Cobble is severely ugly.

So okay, maybe I freaked out a little bit. I looked at it on the dynamic map and it seemed close, but I'm looking at it in game and I suppose it's fairly far off. Sorry about that.

I'm sorry. I thought i built it far enough out of the way. I didnt want to go too far out into the ocean because the resources would be enormous to reach the sea bed. The cobble is temporary. I dont have a lot of coal right now so I used what I could for the smooth stone on the observation tower. Nothing else other than some wood plank walkways extending a little south and west are going to be above the surface. The rest is going to be on the ocean floor and under the sea bed.

Speaking of cobble, the large, chunk sized thing just west of the eastern wall is mine. I'm still converting it to stone bricks.

I updated my minecraft on my laptop, and now it says the server is out of date and I can't connect!! I can still connect with my desktop because it hasn't been updated yet. Is the server going to be updated or am I experiencing some kind of unforeseen incompatibility? P.S. the laptop is a mac, the desktop is HP/windows. Should I hold off upgrading my desktop so I can still connect?

Let me go back in time a couple days and post in this thread...
As a reminder, I will not be updating the server to the new version of minecraft until a corresponding Bukkit build is available, or the internets are reasonably confident that the existing build of Bukkit will work without issues.

If you already updated your Minecraft and can't now play on the server...well, it's not like this is any different than the last update, so yeah.

I typically try to keep things like this in game, but since the perpetrator quit without answering any of my questions, I am posting here.

I logged on today to find the spot where my capitol was (which I owned and had spent a lot of time clearing and leveling) to be empty. Picture below.

jQXnk.jpg

I found that my capitol had been shifted south by some amount, to an altogether undesirable location. This was done by nickpeq (QuickNick here) and without my permission. This is that new location:

CE6Ol.jpg

When I tried to question him on the server, he would not answer, and then quit. So I repeat my questions here.

EDIT:

I have decided to ditch the captiol plans, actually. One government building is enough, methinks. What's more, I'm sure all of the brick can be put to good use. If anyone needs stone brick loans, come talk to me!

Not like this decides who is right or wrong, but your capitol building was like 10-15 blocks away from the door to his house.

Yeah, I realized this, but the point still stands that he did this without asking on something that I owned. I would have preferred to work something out with him before he just moved the capitol

QuickNick: Under no circumstances is it okay to up and destroy someone's building and "move" it, destroying in the process an irreplaceable monument and several roads. If you feel that someone has built something in a place encroaching on "your" land, FIRST you talk to them about it, THEN if they're not doing anything about it, you talk to me about it, and I'll get it sorted. At no point in time is it even remotely acceptable to take matters into your own hands like that, certainly not when the "house" it's near is a hidden underground cave that someone could easily miss if they weren't looking for it.

Fireballs may have not been in the right to build there without your express permission to occupy those pixels, but you were most definitely in the wrong (and significantly more in the wrong) to take it down and move it without regard for what you destroyed in the process. Two wrongs don't make a right, and all that jazz.

In this case, Fireballs' punishment was accomplished when you took it upon yourself to protect your pixels. His work on clearing that field and starting on the capitol building is now wasted, as he will not be continuing that project.

For you, in the spirit of "punishment should fit the crime," since you cleared out someone's stuff, you will find that your house has had a slight interior redecoration. You should have plenty of eggs to rebuild your chicken farm in your chest. (Seriously, what do you need so many chickens for, anyway?)

I feel that this was a rather light punishment, but certain people on the server were against banning you. Bear in mind that if you ever do anything even remotely like this again, you will be banned. Plan accordingly.
