Hi all,

I use the DG-IV alot now but i was wondering what the DG-III was like. Does anybody have anything to say about it or how does it compare to the new DG. What were it functions like ect.

Also is their a copy anywhere so i can try it or is it just gone?

Thanks Stevodoran,

It was just like the DGIV but with less functions and perhaps less realism, I think. However I have not been to Orbiter for so long...

Do you mean the stock DG? Everyone has that.

Perhaps you meant the DG from an older Orbiter version?

The DG made by Dansteph AKA this one :[ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=279"]DG-III_repaint-Batman1.1[/ame]

I had DGIII once. I'll need to check my backup DVDs. Maybe it's still somewhere there.

I think it's illegal to send that to us, since the DGIV's license tells us not to give it to others, and I would guess that it was the same for the DGIII.

Did I write I will send it to anyone? The question was "how it was like", so if I found it, I'd fly it, take some screenshots, and tell about my experience with it, comparing it to DGIV.

Back in the day, the DGIII was the ship to fly! (if you wanted "realistic" parameters in your Orbiter session.) (before i found the XR2)

If my memory serves me right:

-Pretty much the same as the DGIV minus the fancy AutoPilot features (Docking/Re-entry/Auto-speed landing, etc)

-Visual: Wing vapor

-UMMU capability

Hmm, that's all that i can remember.
Adding those features would certainly take a couple of thousand lines of code

Was ummu released when the DG-III was released?
I really can't say for sure, but i think it was nowhere near it's present, universal form. (Sure, you could EVA, approach a docking port and then go in, but none of the features added were present).

Now, i'm just trying to remember the things i did with that spacecraft 5 years ago.

You can always send an email to the man himself and get your answers.

As far as I remember, the main improvement in the DGIV was the flight computer and the autopilots...

Small difference: The DG-III's hover/retro/nosecone/radiator doors weren't thickened as they are in the DG-IV.
