NASA's released a playlist of all the wake-up music played for astronauts dating back to Gemini. It's an interesting read and figured you folks would like it. Potential playlist for Orbiter Radio anyone??

Interesting read. I never actually considered they'd keep a list of it. :P

Thanks for sharing, and :welcome: to OF, while I'm at it. ;)

On STS-130

"2/15/2010 "Parabola" performed by Tool for Mission Specialist Robert Behnken."

Fascinating, tells you somewhat about the personalities of the many astronauts. You can always read books about their professional accomplishments, but rarely the music they like personally. Thank you for sharing and :welcome:to the forum!

Nice release.

By the way, what I was looking for, for years, is the wake up calls from STS-1. And finally somebody uploaded them on youtube this year:

"We like you to scratch out the splashdown and instert touchdown"

I always hated the wake-up call crap. It's just dorky. I hate it when NASA tries to act cute. We're spending lots of money for you guys to fly up there; if you like to screw around with funny wake-up music or thwacking golf balls on the moon, please have the good sense to not televise it.

Orbinauts, you may geek out now...

Gemini 7
12/8/65 “High Hopes” - Mission Commentary Tape 170, page 1
Classical music chosen for the crew included: “The Last Two Movements From Symphony Five from The New World” presumably by Dvorak, “Perpetual Motion Opus Number 257” by Johann Strauss, and “Air on the G String” by Johann Sebastian Bach performed by the Philadelphia orchestra. - Mission Commentary Tape 172, page 8

Why not?

I don't understand what's wrong with having a little bit of fun. It doesn't endanger anyone and it doesn't cost anything.

if you were in a small room for days i bet you would want to have some fun listin to music when you wake up stuff like that i know i would
