UCGO has allowed people to pack incredibly large objects into fairly small cubes. This addon is designed to introduce a "style" of UCGO Cargos: One's that unfold to reveal their contents inside.

This satellite is the first of it's kind. The second it is unpacked, it begins to unfold into its usable form. It contains an omnidirectional antenna, unfolding solar panels, an Instrument array, a satellite dish, two gyroscopes, and a grapple handle.

KNOWN BUGS:

Satellite unfolds at the beginning of every scenario

Gyroscopes are not working (I will fix that if it becomes that much of an issue)

NOTE:

Requires UCGO 2.0, which can be found here: http://orbiter.dansteph.com/

It unfolds vertically on the ground. Very good addon, congrats

Wont open when released from arrow!!!!!!

I dont know whats going on!:shrug::shrug::shrug::shrug::shrug:

Probably needs manual deployment from UMMU, like 90% of the UCGO addons?

I had a problem with this and I wanted to know if anyone else had it or if it was a known issue. I put this satellite into lunar orbit. I then landed on the moon. I found that even though I had deployed the satellite into a perfect lunar orbit before getting back into the DGIV and landing, the satellite was on the ground. I then went back to find the quicksave file right after satellite deployment (when it was in a perfect lunar orbit) and I copied and pasted it into the current quicksave and I never had another problem with it. I have even returned to Earth since then and it is still in lunar orbit like it should be.

My theory: My laptop will abruptly shut down to avoid overheating, that happened a few times during this mission. I think the quicksave file might have saved the correct altitude for the satellite and forgot to record its velocity (which would inevitably cause the satellite to crash back down to the moon)

PS: great add-on, I really like this thing

I want to try this add-on! I once had my laptop go to sleep during a really standard DG entry over Earth. When it woke up, I was already outside the orbit of Jupiter

I do know that the Moon has a relatively weak mu, which makes it hard to stabilize orbits around him. In real-life, he also has a lumpy gravitational field, making the situation even worse. It might be normal for your satellite to eventually fall out of orbit when orbiting the moon.

Thanks for the comment, but the acronyms remove meaning, "mu" means gravity in context of your post? I see the connection between "mu" and "Ummu", I just still don't know what "Ummu" stands for. Seems like some esoteric acronym. [by the way, ALL acronym labeling and all other forms of esoteric labeling quite frankly piss me the :censored: off].

Please correct me if I am wrong but:
I'm guessing "him" means the moon, and by that I'm guessing you are referring to the fact that the moon's gravity is stronger in some surface locations due to the density of cosmic impact material below the surface.

Thank you for the post anywho, (keep in mind I did not check "non-spherical gravity sources" in orbiter options)

UMMU stands for Universal Manned Maneuvering Unit.
I'm sure you'll recognize the MMU on Bruce McCandless in his EMU suit.

The 'Universal' is just so it works universally with all UMMU compatible addons.
Besides, it actually states what UMMU stands for on the site you download it from. I suppose you're right in the fact its esoteric, its meaning is only really understood by Orbinauts.

This add-on is great, and it looks very cool when deploying, however I get a massive framerate hit as soon as the green light at the top comes on, and whenever it enters the view of my camera. Any way to disable the light or any other suggestions?

Thanks,
NT
