Hi;

I did a thorough search as the forum requests putting my question in every conceivable way that I could think of, and I came up with nothing.

So I'm wondering if there actually are no flight control panels with add-on
spacecrafts?

If this is the case how do you calculate for; distance, direction, speed,
travel time, etc,etc with these add-ons?

Thank you,

R.

MFDs

You mean MFDs?

Yes, unfortunately I'm hung up on looking at Orbiter through my experience on flight sim, sorry.

So to re-phrase my question:

Do I look for MFD/IMFD's in add-on spacecraft or do I download
and then install separately these MFD's flight aids into Orbit.

Thanks,

R

Spacecraft rarely come with MFDs as well. You almost always have to download them seperately. MFDs can then be installed into Orbiter, activated via the "modules" tab on startup, and then used in any spacecraft you fly.

Any spacecraft can use all of the MFDs that are built in, you don't need to download them separately. What craft are you having this problem with?

Thank You

I'll get there!!

It is all very new.

I thought I would experiment with the above add-on spacecraft.

Then I discovered it has no (controls) i.e 'MFD's', so I started to
search the forum.

Could you give me a list of basic MFD's so that I can familiarize
myself with their function and usage please.

Thank you,

R.

What spacecraft?

The default MFDs are available in all craft, both included and add-on. You should familiarize yourself with the MFDs using default craft first.

any vessel can use the "transparent MFDs" that are activated together with the HUD.
in the totorials folder you'll find some flight recordings that explain when and what for the individual MFDs are used.

Sorry my answer got chopped!

The craft I was experimented with is the add-on 2001 Discovery.
Which does not appear to have any MFD's.

thank you

activate the HUD (ctrl-H) in cockpit mode, then you got two "transparent MFDs"

And if not, press the red 'Pwr' buttons to turn them on, and the white 'Sel' buttons to bring up a list of MFDs you can choose from!

This is just my two-cents, for what it's worth.

If you are relatively new to Orbiter (but not to flight sims), some of the add-on ships can be a handfull. Download the "Go Play In Space" manual to get a grasp on the controls and MFDs. After you've gone through the book a few times you are more able to handle docking an Orion to Station V (from Worlds of 2001, if you like the Discovey, it gets even better).

After a while you'll be launching from Wideawake, docking w/ISS, transfer to the Moon, refuel and off to Mars. Just takes practice. And patience.
