I was showing Venus and Jupiter to my nephew and neice this evening after we ate dinner. Didn't see a moon, yet, though. Very striking in the dusk sky.

I'm really hoping for good weather for the Moon's occultation of Jupiter on 29 Dec. I've even got my prime and backup observing locations picked out already

I just looked at Australias weather forecast, heavy clouds are going to be along the east coast, all through the 29th :compbash:

Apart from the fact that the sky will be blue, not red, the moon will be waxing, not waning, it will look more like a quarter moon than an almost annular eclipse and Venus will also be a crescent rather than a 5 pointed star.

The Moon-Jupiter occulation is 29 December. I doubt your forecast is that good
