Calling the race too early is a bad idea ("DEWEY DEFEATS TRUMAN"). Most of the eastern states are Dem., so of course a Dem. candidate will have a stronger start.

Indeed. It seems to be making many people question whether it is really over.
Obama pwnd McCain! For the smaller difference in popular vote, I guess you could say his big win was all in strategy in getting the right states to vote for him.
