Hey any of you second-lifers out there... (www.secondlife.com for those who are interested)

I've been making a Soyuz model!
Lots of script work x_x

So far its about 90% from minimal status... Still fine-tuning the vehicle's RCS thrusting ratings and controls, and I need to make the chute and some sort of launch vehicle (R7 would be too big. SL's roof is only 4000m, so I like to call 2.8km-4km range "space" :P)

Functions so far:

  • Flight computer HUD
  • Sort of "apollo-style" command/function entry, via a three didget code
  • Module seperation simulation
  • Actual uniform (no-resistance) motion when in "flight"
  • Limited APU charge
  • Semi-animated solar panels
  • Actual size
  • Carries two people due to average size of avatars. I'll see if I can mayby sneak a third in at some point.
  • HUD Modes include Acent, Orbit, and decent.
Functions to come(checklist):

  • Reentry particles []
  • Parachute(automated & manuel) []
  • Audio dialog by me and a few friends (with 'radio' effects on the audio of course) []
  • Docking system []
  • Fully funtional hatches []
  • EVA w/ MMUs []
  • Emergency situations (damage) simulation []
  • Visual RCS thrusting (its 20 prims, and its unclear about how the launch vehicle will be attached to it, or some other workaround.) []
You can contact me in-world via Eddi Odigaunt, just mention your from the forum so I know its not some n00b begging for lindens... ;) (We've all been there.)

Yes! I'll do that right now, thanks for reminding me.
A later version will probably feature better texturing.
Anyhoo, I'll get those up in a minute!

Is Second Life a flat world?
Does it support propulsion and physics?

To me, Orbiter is my second life...

SL is not a flat world, it is a full 3-d enviornment. It does have physics.
All of its content is made by its users, by using basic 3-d shapes and editing them. Then they can be programmed by themselves as a group using language similar to C++ called LSL (Linden Scripting Language), so vehicle functions such as propulsion would have to be programmed.

www.lslwiki.net for more on LSL

You do not need money to play on Second Life - you can get a job for other people, usually making things, like clothing or models, and make money through there, or you can purchase currency from a credit/debit/etc card you have in real life.

Orbiter is actually listed on my second most used program on my computer!
Second Life is the second.
