The amazing longevity of the Apollo 8 crew... One of them had to go eventually but it's still gutting to hear. Borman was a brilliant character. I didn't always agree with his opinions on things. Regardless he was one of the greats of human spaceflight.

Humanity should go back to the Moon (whether it is Artemis or the Chinese-led project) before all the Apollo astronauts are gone forever

The overall longevity of the Apollo astronauts tend to suggest that, given the limited duration of the missions they flew, being outside of Earth's protective magnetosphere wasn't such a big deal.
