Sometimes when I use the basic "Transfer" MFD to go from the Earth to the Moon, everything goes swimmingly. However, other times, things go catty-whompus when I try to do my Earth ejection / Trans-lunar injection burn, and I can't find any discernible difference between what I do when things go right vs. when things go wrong. It seems to work only when it "feels like it."
I get everything planned out on the MFD for me to intercept the moon. When time arrives for me to perform ejection, I go prograde and start punching it. As I run the engine, Dv remains constant (?!), and my planned elliptical orbit (the green dashed ellipse) begins to morph, changing into kind of a trapezoidal-looking thing which is off-center on the MFD, and then disappearing off of the MFD altogether. Does anyone know what's happening? :S TIA!
