Yet another Shuttle 360 deg view - https://www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/Visit/Virtual-Tour/Cockpit360/ There are 5 of them as well as many other aircraft - I can spend hours easily browsing them.
Also, some cockpit artifacts for reference -...
Yeah, power supply is quite straight forward, even in my case. So, basically, choose your flavor.
I have modular approach, something like on the picture in the attachment below - each converter or processor board is separate shielded module inserted in the frame with the back plane connectors...
I guess it's time to redraw my MFD block diagram :)
Right now I've been waiting for some components to arrive to completely redesign display hardware - instead of one box with all pcb's I plan using one frame with multiple cards (i.e. shielded boxes with pcb inside).
Also I've been redesigning...
I know, that you thought about that "talkback", just like in recording consoles :) Honestly, being studio gear junkie, this term confuses me in the same way ??
Sad to see those places bite the dust... god damn apartments!...:mad:
I just realize, that I play not many games now :))
Here's my little list:
Orbiter;
X-Plane;
GTA 3 / VC / SA (I really dont dig IV and V.. );
18 wheels of steel;
Eurotruck simulator.
yeah, sound fx are key to the real immersion. I suggest you acquiring/building butt kickers and other low frequency generation devices, capable of producing waveforms down to 5-10 HZ range. It'd add up significantly to the realism, especially during accent phase of the flight. Good news - there...
You always can design a 3d printed "bezel" around 20mm thick to put electronics in front of the monitor structure
Nothing beats nice tactile feel on the real deal :))):hailprobe:
I'm sure you'll find a place to add them:cool::coffee:
Oh, I see, so basically I hook up all physical buttons to Arduino Leonardo (as I do now) and connect it via short USB cable to Raspberry pi, instead of running long one to the PC. As I plan to design and use shielded boxes for raspberry and arduino, as well as a short shielded usb cable, it...
Hey Jdat! Thank you for your detailed post!
I'd like to eliminate all USB devices if possible (right now i've been using Leonardo boards for keypad control), cause they are quite prone to crosstalking, signal degradation and EMI.. Using the same raspberry GPIO pins would be ideal. So basically...
Regarding the switches - I recommend you to scan ebay for military soviet ones - ok, they're not Honeywell, but cheap, robust and good looking.
I've purchased around 70 pcs of these (TV1-4) (...
Man, it would be sensational! :)
Raspberry pi 1 rev B, which I use, has just enough IO pins to drive 5 columns and 6 rows of buttons, eliminating arduino and usb once and for all :D
Please keep us updated!
Thank you!
Regarding talkback indicators - you can use small solenoid and 3d printed structure with a little flag, controlled via small signal relay and transistor - just like a real one :)
transistor base is connected to output pin of your microcontroller.
Do you have any pictures showing a...
Hah, those inline duct fans can really move some air!
I used centrifugal one for my DIY solder fume extractor.
Definitely subscribed to your project!
My project is called simply "The universal flight simulator" :D
You can find the thread here -...
Yeah, I'm a freak indeed LOL If i had enough space I'd like to build full raven star cabin with 2 axes 360 DOF :D
If you plan building fully enclosed pit as I do, you need to work out ECS (environmental control system), including CO2 absorption. I've been designing the system with multiple...
TheShuttleExperience,
man, that's promising!:hailprobe: Yeah, 3d printer and 3018 router are your best friends during this endeavor :) I have Tevo Tornado with build volume of 300x300x400 mm and right now I've almost finished modifying my CNC3018 pro with new electronics and mechatronics to be...
Hi there! Long time no see! :)
Sound very interesting to me. The more I dig into the issue with the crosstalk (see my post above), the more I realize that it's an USB related problem. Thus I wanna get rid of all USB connections in the sim and replace them all with Ethernet. So your post is...
