    Roadmap proposal - Orbiter development

As far as Linux goes, a good first step might be getting Orbiter to compile under winelib. As far as UI/maneuver nodes, etc, for vessels that do not emulate the avionics of a specific real (or fictional) spacecraft, and thus would be dependent on MFDs in classical orbiter, it might be good to...

Shouldn't be that shocking on a spaceflight forum, given that astronomical convention is to have years as signed integers (0=1 BC, -1=2 BC, etc.).

    Move over 'Omuamua

A clarification on this paper: It was published to Arxiv in 2019, but was not publicly announced because the event had been detected by military sensors and the researchers only had access to the data that was entered into the database they had been combing through. Confirming the margins of...

The text is well known enough that the title "lorem ipsum" is bound to be included in any spell checker, and "ipsum" itself appears in a number of borrowed phrases from Latin. "Sit" is an English word in its own right and "dolor" exists as a borrowed (though uncommon) word. The only word I'd be...

TBH, I've not found systemd to be that bad in purely desktop contexts, but I've had it explode messily on me several times when doing more serverish things (stuff like helpfully grabbing ports that daemons are supposed to be listening on, then forwarding traffic to the daemon, and then, when the...

No, but you still have two guesses and Poettering has another controversial project (which I didn't get the controversy about until systemd convinced me that Poettering is bad news).

Poettering!!!!!!!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad: (I'll give you three guesses as to which software just broke. I'm confident anybody that recognizes the name won't need more than two).

Lucky you. Here it's almost impossible to get the ISP to let you use your own router, and firmware bugs abound in the CPE routers that they force you to use (and charge you a monthly rental fee for). Of course, you can always set up your own router behind theirs, which at least keeps your LAN sane.

Really, except for their leadership position in the communist world during the cold war, and the sheer number of nukes they have (which a lot of regional powers could probably match if they really wanted to), Russia hasn't been anything more than a regional power in at least 120 years, if they...

Actually, that might cause more of a diplomatic incident. Cannibalism of a foreign head of state is generally considered a diplomatic faux pas, and the Canadians might get the wrong idea.

To his face, as in Russian. If not to his face, I see no reason at this point not to use the obvious French pronunciation, whatever language you're actually speaking. In Ukranian, my understanding is that you pronounce it as in Russian, but suffix it with a particular profanity.

And there's the contradiction: the EU can't work as a defensive alliance if European countries don't spend significantly more on their militaries. If you don't want your foreign policy constrained by the need to keep the US around for defense, if you want to avoid crises like the present one...

I've kinda lost touch with the GOP since Trump. The GOP I grew up with wouldn't have taken such an attitude, but apparently it is being expressed. My opinion is that it was a bad idea to add Eastern Europe to NATO and have the US remain in it at the same time, and that Putin has a point about...

He seems saner than Hitler to me, yes, but at the same time, I was raised with the idea that bullying one's neighbors like that is proof that one is not altogether sane. Much like Trump, there's a degree to which he seems sane and coolheaded and cunning, but also a note of craziness there that...
