    Meshing Question GMAX: Spline shaping

none? you've tried increasing the threshold by massive amounts? i've had problems like this, but i've generally solved it by breaking the splines apart into separate lines, or splitting the shape in half. ---------- Post added at 09:58 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:50 AM ----------...

    Meshing Question GMAX: Spline shaping

4 verts per surface other than that, sounds ok, is it working now? one thing you may wanna try is to delete the arcs on one side, then try welding it up, you can mirror the resulting mesh later. "fuse" helps. if you have that option.. as you can tell, splines are fussy... i dont personally use...

Project Orbiter Battle Simulation Project Needs Developers!

yeah it would be a pain in the ass if you were strafing a column of tanks and had to switch targets constantly... and how about firing with no lock at all? perhaps if you're talking a ground war, or maybe so that system is flexible enough to support even starwars like scenarios the problem is...

    Meshing Question GMAX: Spline shaping

then you'll need to add more lines and verts as needed to make the shape. i can't see why thats failing to weld though, splines are a pain... all the parts are attached together as one shape before you try and weld no? otherwise break/detach the arcs into separate lines perhaps?

    Space Combat Techniques Discussion

sorta like a CCIP mode in aircraft fire control systems, you'll also need to account for velocities and in an atmosphere perhaps wind, certainly dynamic pressures, no? but still you'll not want to work out the impact point for every single round... or you don't need to... I'd have figured on...

    Meshing Question GMAX: Spline shaping

well for a start you still have 2 more verts than you need on that upper arc, which will make surface fail. as for your problem, i can't tell if you actually have 2 verts at those intersections, basically you should have 3 separate elements... the back shape, made of 3 lines and 3 verts, with a...

it'll make sense as soon as you get it working:P

    Meshing Question GMAX: Spline shaping

lol. yeah thats because you have about a thousand vertexes... remember i said no more than 4 per surface... rather than have lots of verts and lots of lines, you should use as few as possible and edit the curves, using bezier corners to make the shapes you want. maybe this will help... i...

    Meshing Question GMAX: Spline shaping

splining eh? thats pretty hardcore. make your spline cage look like this - remember that 'cage' is the operative word.... you want to construct lines in such a way that the surfaces can be drawn between them using "surface modifier". make sure that the vertexes (green crosses) are welded up...

Project XR2 Ravenstar - Mk II

hey all i've done is put a couple of extra cargo bays in...;) if its ever going to fire missiles thats not up to me or doug. I'm just looking at whats coming down the line in terms of other addons and making sure that the mk2 has some expandability in future.... You could probably put a turret...

Project XR2 Ravenstar - Mk II

I think those would be really interesting systems to simulate and perhaps in the future you could build them light enough. I made a very large spaceplane/warship around a nuclear (fusion/far future) scramjet idea, so that it can hypercruise for extended periods. So yeah i think those are good...

Project Here goes nothing: The Delta-StarLiner G42

yeah i've looked at that page myself before now and the problem that ships like this and the xr2 and even the space shuttle as a real world example have is that they have to operate over a variety of speeds and aren't intended for atmospheric cruising as say a mach6 waverider might. so there's...

Project Here goes nothing: The Delta-StarLiner G42

Moach i'd have suggested it a long time ago, but its your project and everyone else seemed happy with it... Surely a massive challenge for spaceplane designers, particularly SSTO's is what shape to give the wing, and how much wing to give it... the delta glider has really far too much wing, as...

    Project Getsuei Dodai

You could have a very large, ramped runway, one which curves up over distance making a steeper hill, you get more traction on the runway as it curves and are slowed due to gravity, you could also use the ramp to get space borne without using hovers. tougher to do, i know, but thats something...

Hey Moach, haven't looked in here in a while, looks like you've really been working on the textures, they're looking great. I also like the wing reduction its got at some point, looks a lot faster than before.

Project XR2 Ravenstar - Mk II

Some more of the airlock.. more utilitarian than the rest of the interior.. can just about squeeze 6 people in here, as long as they aren't too fat. the bench houses an emergency repressurisation system, basically a big gas tank hooked up to a battery powered lighting and heating unit. dunno...

Project XR2 Ravenstar - Mk II

depends on your hardware.;) mk1, 60k triangles, iirc mk2, 76k triangles (current/WIP). both figures include the pilot meshes and marvin. Not sure how much more detail this will get, it'll have a few more textures also. but dont forget this is 3 years on from the conception of the mk1 model...

Project XR2 Ravenstar - Mk II

I'm surprised you don't have one already... I'm sure i built one. That in mind, if more customisation features are put in, are people even going to make use of them? Anyway, heres some progress on the new airlock with its access hatch, looking up from head-height into the ship. The hatchway...
