    Project VulcanCentaur

Attached is a test version of the Vulcan Centaur launcher that should be Orbiter 2024 compatible. I would appreciate if a few guys could fly some test missions, to check if everything works well. :)

    Orbiter 2024 Release

I also copied the zlib.dll in the server folder. Then the launchpad started, but the Orbiter-simulation did not find the modules. Now I run the shortcut as Adminstrator, that works. Thats ok for me now.

    Orbiter 2024 Release

Sorry, that did not work either. But interestingly, when I copy the zlib.dll into the Server subfolder, the launchpad starts. But when trying to launch a mission this window comes up and Orbiter stops: The path to the Deltaglider shown here looks strange. I don't have a drive D:\ and it...

OHM X-37 and The Prince of Darkness

Hi, for the launch scenarios the FalconHeavy is required. I mentioned that in the doc and the scenario descriptions, but maybe should state that more prominent. On the parse error of the Cape Canaveral base I cannot say much, sorry.

    Orbiter 2024 Release

I use a separate folder for games, to keep them apart from other applications.. Orbiter is in "C:\Spiele\Orbiter-2024". The folder properties show nothing suspicious ('change' is allowed in the security tab).

    Orbiter 2024 Release

Yes. Actually the program link in your screenshot points to Orbiter.exe, which runs fine here. It is the Orbiter_ng.exe, that troubles me. ____ Found a workaround: If I right-click the shortcut and say "Run as administrator", the error window only flashes briefly, but then Orbiter starts.

    Orbiter 2024 Release

Thanks for the tips! But they did not work. Maybe to mention, all worked well until yesterday, then there was a Windows update. It seems this messed it up somehow. I created the shortcut both by dragging with Shift-Ctrl, or by right clicking on the application and created the shortcut. When...

    Orbiter 2024 Release

Now, here is a funny one: When trying to start Orbiter 2024 (Orbiter_ng) via a desktop shortcut, it shows this error message. It cannot find zlib.dll. However, when starting from within the Orbiter-2024 folder, everything runs fine. zlib.dll is present. Orbiter with the internal graphcis...

Discussion Setting Touchdown Points for Vessels on Solid Planet Surfaces I: The Mass Spring Damper Model

@Thunder Chicken, thank you for giving the touchdown points a scientific approach! (y) When checking the spaceplanes compatibility with Orbiter 2024, I found that after touchdown they were either catapulted from the runway or went into a wild ground spin. It seems like the ground contact...

    Orbiter 2024 Release

First of all: A big thanks to all who created Orbiter 2024! (y) _____ Question: Is it possible to state both "Orbiter 2024" and "Orbiter 2016" in the Orbiter Downloads 'Supported Orbiter version'? I will check my addons over the next weeks to see if they are Orbiter 2024 ready. But I would like...

    New Release Crew Dragon 2022

Maybe a word on the Orbiter 2024 compatibility: In Orbiter 2024 the ProjectAlpha_ISS mesh was moved into the subfolder Meshes/ISS. But the Crew Dragon scenarios look for it in the old location (directly in the Meshes folder). Workaround: Install the attached mesh, which is just a copy of the...

    Ariane 6 european rocket

Yes, feel free to use my config files. I also think the launcher shall have 2 basic configurations (6.2 and 6.4), each with a dummy payload. That white oversized cubesat looks very good. :) All flight-specific configurations and scenarios are then derived from these scenarios. This will allow...

    Ariane 6 european rocket

If you want to try out, here is a zip-file with the Ariane 64 configuration and scenarios I came up with. The files are named "A64 ...". No original files are overwritten. For the Tenacity scenario the Tenacity Dream Chaser is required. 🛩️ ____ Small edit: Added the ISS to the scenario "A64 -...

    Ariane 6 european rocket

Hi, I did some comparison on the Ariane 6 performance figures. First column is the v262 from the addon. The right-hand column is what I ended up with. - The boosters in Wikipedia have less dry mass, more fuel and more thrust. - For the first and second stage to find empty masses is tricky. -...

    Ariane 6 european rocket

I finally got the booster meshes right. :) Question: Is there a method to influence the autopilot in the guidance file, aside from the initial line orbit(200,400,38) ? Reason is, with 4 boosters the Ariane 6 is so powerful, that it overshoots the target orbit height by far. It then starts...

    Ariane 6 european rocket

Hi, thank you for your support! The booster meshes are no problem. I can rotate them myself, if I find time. (New Years preparation is taking its time ... ;) ) I will have a look, if I can find data on the thrust, weight and ISP values of the Ariane 6, and make a test version, as you...

    Ariane 6 european rocket

Thank you for the tips! I will give it a try. ;) In the meantime, please meet Susie: I tried this as a simple cfg-file vessel, but it seems too heavy to reach orbit, even on an Ariane 64. (In the screenshots two boosters are still rotated in the wrong direction. Will have to fix that.)...
