Apollo 13 Launch Scenario: What should I expect?

LM PADs were a bit weird like this, yaw was not included on them because as you know it doesn't change burn direction. 13 of course had all sorts of confusion with using the LM for attitude control as well as the burns. Did you make sure the RTCC and your LM are both using PTC REFSMMAT and its...

Apollo 13 Launch Scenario: What should I expect?

This first one in the LM should be actual since you aren't performing a P52 option 1

Apollo 13 Launch Scenario: What should I expect?

We think it was an Option 9 midcourse but the upper pericynthion limit was changed to 135, this should give you an Indian ocean splash. Time of burn was 61:30 and leave inclination empty to get option 9A. Might need some other tinkering though, its been a while since I have played with that...

Apollo 13 Launch Scenario: What should I expect?

Yeah they managed to do an AOT check before the first DPS burn.

Apollo 13 Launch Scenario: What should I expect?

If you are using PAMFD you need to make sure the REFSMMAT selection is correct. It needs to be on "identical." Did you verify those numbers coorospont with the gimbal conversion in the LM activatiopn checklist to ensure you used the correct conversion in PAMFD? Also, in the LM, FDAI and N20...

Apollo 13 Launch Scenario: What should I expect?

Considering the expedited nature, I don't think they bothered bringing up the displays/flags. They could hear the squibs fire when they pressurized and that was probably enough since they had to use LM RCS regardless. They had all necessary breakers closed at that point to pressurize it.

Apollo 13 Launch Scenario: What should I expect?

Haha dont worry, cycling it will only eat a little more power. Also, we cannot charge the CM bats from the LM yet, still trying to find a solution for 2 way power flow, so when you get to that point you will be manually "filling" them with scenario edits...

Apollo 13 Launch Scenario: What should I expect?

I mean I personally wouldn't want the "DEAD" to remain...also every time you load you get the alarm sound. Work around is cycle the compressor when you get the CW light until LM ECS is up. You will have to do this for entry as well as they flew entry with it off.

Apollo 13 Launch Scenario: What should I expect?

Correct, the battery ties were put on previously. Yep, this isolates it from the system. Did you have your suit compressor off at this point? One issue with our CM is the CO2 climbs very fast with it off as it doesn't diffuse well.

    P51 alarm

Sure, so P51 is imu orientation. It allows the computer to orient itself based on the current state of the platform and the stars. Essentially this provides the initial reference to the stars. P52 is what actually aligns the platform to a REFSMMAT (REFerence to Stable Member MATrix). Option 1...

Apollo 13 Launch Scenario: What should I expect?

SHe isnt modeled well yet, but it was higher than normal on 13, I wouldn't worry about this. Yep normal because of the sensor failure as well. Interesting I see that, I think that is indeed an error in whoever scanned and digitized this checklist. I will do some homework to verify but yeah I...

Oh yes saving often is invaluable!

    P51 alarm

Checking back in, I was able to launch this save, redo the G&N powerup, and then do a P51/uplink/P30/P52. However due to the previous powerup issues I did get a 211/217 error when coarse aligning the IMU to the desired attitude, so the PICAPAR stars were off but I marked them and it just torqued...

Apollo 13 Launch Scenario: What should I expect?

Hmm not sure what would be causing the crashes unless you had some sort of corrupt save state there. That was actually a sensor failure: 047:41:00 Kerwin: We verify that. At 46:45 we had 82 percent and apparently when he stirred the, the cryos, the sensor broke. The pressures will slowly...

    P51 alarm

Yeah it was part of the P30 procedure, by entering P40 during the F37 at the end of P30 then going to P00, you set your P30 REFSMMAT into the "desired" slot so it can be used by P52 option 1

    P51 alarm

Well the checklist MFD has the procedures in order you were to follow for CMC and G&N powerup. After you do that you are to do a P51 marking 2 stars of your choice. You were to do an uplink and a P30 and set the REFSMMAT with a 40E at the end of it, and then a P52 option 1. Due to some issues...

    P51 alarm

Your optics are facing earth in the save you gave me. But as I said in my other edit, you have missed a few steps before P51, so you likely have a pad P51 orientation so the computer doesnt know which way the spacecraft is facing.

    P51 alarm

I'll check the save in a moment, but the 405 means it doesnt have a good set of stars in the optics field of view. Keep in mind you can physically find 2 stars and it still can give this error as the PICAPAR looks for stars within certain parameters wrt the optics. EDIT: First thing I see is...

Apollo 13 Launch Scenario: What should I expect?

I have indeed flown this, it's not for the faint of heart! I used the procedures from the actual flight, the mission ops report for read up procedures, and the real time audio/transcripts for procedural changes. It took a lot of work! You will also be using RTCC a lot as you can imagine, but...

    P51 alarm

So I am trying to get this straight, you are doing the P51 after CMC/G&N powerup here? Did you maneuver your spacecraft to have a heads down/optics up attitude? Also when you first run the P52 option 1, what is the MGA reported there? If that is beyond 70 from center you also need to maneuver first.
