I didn't mean to sidetrack the discussion. "Going 'round the Horn" was always a difficult transit before the peacefulness of the Pacific. Perhaps this relates in the same way in the "systems" check prior to any difficult maneuver. Think in terms of getting to Mars and all of the mission...
May I point out that some of you are confusing geography. Cape Horn is at the southern tip of South America. Cape of Good Hope is at the southern tip of Africa. Seems unlikely that "rounding the horn" is a reference to rounding the southern tip of Africa.
It will be interesting to see if they achieve Mars orbit on the first attempt. For some reason, success at Mars is a difficult thing.
Watching this launch and listening to the launch team and other Emerati officials, it was good to hear the excitement in their voices as they attempt this...
The current OH effort is a work in progress due to software changes and is not at a mature state. In time Xyon and his team should have a superior product available.
In the meantime, at least you have something to work with. The change team could have just removed accessibility until their work...
A recent news report suggested that 1/3 of all pilots in Pakistan are operating on forged licences. Is there a possiblility that this may have been a factor in this crash?
Before anyone accuses my of racism here is the relevant article...
IMFD 5.7. Hang in there for sound. XRSound is quite good but OrbiterSound 5.0 should be very close to release. Multistage2015 is a must IMHO. Check out BrianJ's addons for Falcon9, FalconHeavy. There is also the Cargo Dragon and Crew Dragon for them.
A quick scan through OrbitHangar will...
If you don't see a number of directory icons, do a complete reinstall from the zip rather than the msi. If you see the directory icons, open them up and you will see your scenarios.
I use Crimson Editor as my editor of choice because I have great freedom to change the file extension to anything I want without Windows firing a bunch of messages at me. I just copied the scenario that BrianJ posted and pasted into a new file, saved as whatever I wanted to call it in the...
This flight held a special interest for many Canadians, but perhaps not for the reasons most people would know or understand. Perhaps this will offer some sort of explanation:
It's also why some of us were hoping that the Crew Dragon would have been named Eagle-5 (from Spaceball).
BrianJ posted a new scenario just for the Saturday flight. I used it as the basis for scenario DM-2a. Worked pretty well.
Unless I've missed something, either of the DM scenarios take you automatically through launch up to Stage 2 ignition. From there you will have to manually pilot as per...
Whoa. Black Sabbath Planet Caravan as wakeup music (We Sail Through Endless Skies).
That oughta freak out the more conservative element.
Kinda mellow for a wakeup call, though.
Just had a chance to watch Bob and Doug's show and tell. Funny that they mention the "tight quarters". Compared to other vehicles, it looked like they had a lot of volume to play around in. Nice clean design. Not cluttered at all.
So, they're calling it Endeavour. I'd prefer a different one...
Just a quality note based on today's flight. I was running the addons with a DM-2 scenario in parallel with the actual flight. Anyone else notice how smooth the image inside the Crew Dragon was? I think the camera shake in the addons is greater than it should be
Cheers all...
