Not sure if I should post here or in the astrophoto thread, but I managed to screw up the focus anyways, so they,re not that good as astrophotos 😂 I was doing a night timelapse with my spare phone, a Samsung S10, using the Intervalometer app. Basically, I just put it on a tripod mount and...

So.....this is what he'd been saying in 2020. Perhaps that anti-safety drive got to him and he thought that, since safety margins are exaggerated, it can probably go deeper anyways. https://www.geekwire.com/2020/oceangate-raises-18m-build-bigger-submersible-fleet-get-set-titanic-trips/ But I'd...

Might just mean they're higher up (partial failure of ballast) or they're even on the surface, floating around undetected. Surfacing is quite useless as long as they can't make radio contact or otherwise signal where they are

So, subs getting tangled in debris has happened before, notably with the Mir submersible. A comparison of the thrust capability of the two might be useful https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-65972686

Yeah, I guess it remains to be seen whether water-cooled means 'with a water suppression system' or actively cooled like from inside. I wouldn't put it beyond Elon 😅

So, no flame trench, but the 'steel plate' thing goes ahead. If the damage to the engines was also caused by sound/shockwaves, it could still mean trouble, if it ends up reflecting them. Would surely be awkward to have Elon admit the need for a flame trench after yet another failure. Damage not...

Yeah, I mean, given the amount of stuff that gets thrown around by impacts, the moon should have had rings by now

In the long run, of course. But even launching from the bottom of a crater means most fragments impact the landscape, and what's left is at a high angle/eccentricity, so it will impact the moon on the return trip. And any lunar base would need a form of micrometeor protection anyways
