A little addition to my previous post:
After exporting the Mesh out of Blender I used Shipedit, which can be found in the utils folder of orbitersdk. I used the function Calc/Check mesh. As far as I can see, that seemed to repair the mesh. It should probably work that way.
Like Topper I try to design my ship in Catia V5 and convert the data to .msh .
Here is what I tried (maybe someone is able to tell me why it doesn't work ;) ):
I saved the model in Catia as .wrl .
I imported the .wrl into Blender.
In Blender I used the orbiter addon to export to .msh .
