Re: ATUM System

Hmm, planet around nearby star? Planet has habitable moon with sentient, tribal life? We visit in a starship with two shuttles? I'm beginning to notice a pattern here, and I like it :)

...You're not in Kansas anymore, you're on Shai!

However, I keep getting an error message and the scenario won't load :(

It doesnt work. It crahses with this log:

**** Creating simulation session
DirectDraw interface OK
Direct3D interface OK

Render device: Fullscreen 1360 x 1024
Device has hardware T&L capability

**** WARNING: Mesh not found: .\Meshes\.msh

In Orbiter 2009 Beta i can load the scenario, but i see a invisible Deepstar, only the 2 Resolves. In background fantastic planets, but if i select "Camera" to see more planets it crashes again, with same log:

**** WARNING: Mesh not found: .\Meshes\.msh

So i guess you forgot a mesh, but he doesnt say which.

I do hope you have permission to include those addons from the addon developers themselves...

Yes, you're right. Since I was watching Avatar for the first time, i was thinking about making something similar for Orbiter Simulator. So here it is...

THAAAAANKS MR. CAMERON !!!

About the permission: I haven't found any copyrights or any terms of using... I know, it would be polite to tell them at least....

They are both written in credits.

The crash should be repaired. I completed the addon on 02:00 AM, i was quite tired, so i forgot to add something...
Sorry for problems.

And we thought we had finally found a place to dump all those iPads.

You never know... the Tana'tu might have a use for the iPad. :P

Fixed. Do they also look like a genetic experiment between smurfs and cats?

You see this tablet? This is why we're here. Because this little black and silver tablet is the most hated product on Earth, and we need a place to dump all of them. But those savages are also smart consumers, and they don't want to buy them any more than we did. We're on the brink of war, and you're supposed to be finding a business deal.

...

The sky people have sent us a message, that they can drop their somewhat cool-looking yet commercially inept electronic tablets. Well we will send them a message, that this, this is our free market!

Maybe.... you can imagine them somehow like this

- 3 meters tall (lower gravity)
- blue skin (this system contains a lot of some blue chemical element, you can see a lot of it on Nad'Y and his nearest moons) so their bodies are partially built by this element
- antient / primitive (thats their problem :-)

output = something like Na'vi

Are the meshes ok now? I hope i've repaired it ...:feedback:

I only changed one texture
(the THESEUS sign instead of NASA, ESA, JAXA and RKA logos),
renamed the ship
and raised the main engine thrust.

About Resolve: I haven't contacted him... I know, it should do it before uploading the ATUM. I hope I will not be executed for not contacting him... I just couldn't find any copyrights...

I wrote about origin of Resolve shuttle everywhere - in readme, description on OrbitHangar etc...

What would make you say something like that, I find that extremely rude. Attacking him like that in public. I you really feel an itch to say something like that send him a PM. Don't attack him like that in public, you have no reason to believe he didn't get ask for permission. That really boils my blood.

T.Neo wasn't attacking this addons author, merely raising a concern. As it turns out, his concern was well founded.

I don't know about Donamy's Resolve but it's true, I didn't include any copyright information with Deepstar. I did however include an email address. I think most developers expect to be contacted in cases like this - unless their work is explicitly licenced to permit such redistribution.

It's likely I would have responded positively to any request. As it stands I'm mildly annoyed.

I'm flattered.

Oh, Donamy himself.... .... ...

I want to say, that I'M TERRRIBLY SORRY for not contacting you about usage of Resolve shuttle before publishing the Atum addon. Your shuttle seemed to be the best choice when selecting something like Valkyrie in Avatar. I found no copyright.

Now I'm giving it into your hands. If you don't like usage of your shuttle, tell me, and i'll delete the Atum project from OrbitHangar immediately.

However, you should know your name is at least written in credits and addon info of the Atum project... But now it's on you. Again, I'm terribly sorry about that.

Ok now it works fine, its a really nice system.
But your addon overwrites the "Star.dds"! You have to warn the user before!
I find this star-texture mutch better:

Correct. I did not intend to attack or offend anyone- if I came across as such I deeply apologise.

IMO, developers have the right to be contacted, but also the responsibility to note their wishes about redistribution etc.
