Yes. I understand it perfectly until it gets into the DLL part. That's basicly all that's holding my starship back. I'm not sure where to put anything in the DLL.

Then make the first release SC3. Any chance of a screenshot of the starship model?

Well, not quite yet. I've got 2 race tracks (one is uncooperative) that are interfering with the star ship construction. Plus, my 3DS Max trial is running out, and that's basically the only thing I can use to build the scenery for the track. So, I'm pretty busy and I'm under a lot of pressure. And the race last Thursday didn't help any, since I got a 2 lap penalty, but I'm not going into detail about that. I'll have to put my orbiter projects on pause while I complete the race tracks.

ThatGuy: I can't use a different program, for one, GMAX can't export directly to 3DS, and two, GMAX and 3DS Max are the only to modeling programs I know how to use. I have a program that can import 3DS to NR2003 (NASCAR Racing 2003 Season), rFactor, and a few other simulator formats and even export back to 3DS, but for a good model, I need either 3DS Max, or GMAX with a 3DS exporter to build models for those simulator formats.

Artlav: Are you talking about the two lap penalty I got during my last race, or the fact that I'm having problems with the race tracks I'm building?

There are addons to get GMAX to export to .3DS

Why not just buy a copy of 3DSMax? It sounds like you have a lot of meshing work to do so you should purchase a full copy.

You don't have a few minutes to do just ONE screenshot of the nearly completed starship? In a previous post you said it was almost done so let's see it!

I thought I said the bridge was almost done, the "nearly completed star ship" is a huge exageration.

It's become obvious that I'm not going to be able to complete the stuff for the tracks in 3DS max, but I will see what I can do about completing them. For buying 3DS Max, I don't have the $3495.00 it takes to purchace it. I'm completely dependent on the trials that come out every year for now. If you know of a .X exporter for GMAX, I could import the .X file directly into the format I need. Other than that, there is nothing I can do.

For the star ship, I'll complete the bridge and then start on the fusolodge. Once I get a good portion of the fusolodge completed, I'll have a screenshot in my album and a link to it.

Rats! When I un-installed orbiter to make a fresh install, I lost my star ship data. I'm going to have to start over. Maybe. I think I made a backup when GMAX crashed.

Ok, I got the backup, the bad news is, I'm going to have to re-do the images.

It's what you said further up the thread.

Bad practice. If you use the software that much then you should buy it otherwise you are doing what? 30 days of modelling a year if that?

Google will show you addons for Gmax and of course there is anim80r.

For the star ship, I'll complete the bridge and then start on the fusolodge. Once I get a good portion of the fusolodge completed, I'll have a screenshot in my album and a link to it.

Source code control tools can also be used with 3D design.

Ok. I guess I better start reading it more often then. Thanks for the links.

Update: I've read part of the first link, and already I understand what it is and what it can do.

I do have a question. If I give someone the models and textures, can that someone make the DLL's? I can do the config file (I think).

Or take a programming course at uni.

Read it ALL. Both links, then read the relevant chapter in your book, then take a course. Ask questions and keep learning.

The config file is simple enough. If you want someone to write a DLL for you then you will need to provide a spec and post a request in add on. Seriously though, for your first ship use SC3.

Did you upload all of your bases to Orbiter Hanger?? Or just the one?
And for the Love Of God man, please spell check!

Never mind, I just went over to Orbiter hanger and there they were... What about the base for Mars? There is a base pack for Mars that has an ice crater base, Mars Face base and one with a huge tower that looks like the turning torso building. Perhaps one of those can give you some ideas...

I'll build the base, but it won't have anything on it except the Latitude and Longitude. And I haven't found a good landing site yet.

By the way, I'll provide the specs for the star ship for the DLL file and I do have spacecraft3 on my system. I haven't read the docs (yet), but it looks pretty good. Please note that I highlighted the word "yet".

Well, there reason I suggested them is that one of them has a domed section that might be useful to you. Even if pressurizing the dome is out of the question for now, at least you can get the 'look' of the base that you have in mind. I think the ice crater base is worth a look, plus there is a mesh for the surrounding crater.
You may be able to reverse engineer something usefull (just be sure to give the author credit).
Just a thought.

Ok, I have the landing site for Mars uploaded to OrbitHangar. I just updated the patch to include the Mars Base (which is the landing site).

Even if I can't get the dome pressurised, how would I know if it's possible in orbiter if I don't try?

Ok then. Is it possible to build a space craft as the dome and give it atmospheric paramiters? Don't answer that.

I'm reading the spacecraft.pdf right now to help with the space craft. And I'm going to have to re-disign the bridge from what I've read.
