Hi.

As you may noticed I and Woo482 are working on space combat game. Instead of spamming chatbox with developement pictures I'm creating this thread.

Tide of War (working title) will be a classic space combat shooter in spirit of Freespace, Wing commander or X-Wing Alliance. Player will assume position of starfighter pilot to take his part in a conflict between Solar Federation and Syndicate * in the begining of the conflict.

Some gameplay notes:
  • Game will consist of few dozen missions arranged in few campaigns. Missions will vary from escort duty or convoy attacks to full blown space battles involving capital ships and dozens of fighters.
  • Flight model resembles X-Wing and follow up games, with added inertia. While not scientificaly accurate, I think it'll give more fun for players. It's a game not simulator. :p
  • We'll using UNITY as developement platform as it provides ready to use graphics and physics engine. Many games including KSP and Heartstone proved it's a viable developement platform.

Game is currently in prototype phase and there are no set dates yet.

Kickstarter or indiegogo but not before we reach "minimum viable product" stage.

Heh, that was the other craft I thought of upon seeing it. In any case it's very nice.

I look forward to trying the game out, whenever you guys reach that stage. I'm looking at Unity myself as a platform, it has much going for it. It looks like fine work so far. :thumbup:

Learning new (Unity 5) material shader (based on light energy conservation model) and new render pipeline with things like skybox based global ilumination and reflection maps.

I must say that effects are pretty nice so far.

How about low-end PC support? Like Dx7 mode? I demand Dx7 mode just because I am kinda "disabled" with my GMA3600. It is like having half of arm and a leg from all the limbs...

But jokes aside - it is good too see you are on progress. I highly respect people who can start and keep up and keep up and keep up with their projects.

Still need to add some details but here is 243 meter long carrier.

Carries 12 fighters (4 interceptors, 4 space superiority fighters and 4 assault fighters) and 2 Orion class shuttles.

Not sure why, but that and the spaceship general shape remembers me Homeworld. :yes:

Still need to add some details but here is 243 meter long carrier.

What kind of weapons carries this thing ? It seems to have decent artillery on the front and aft sectors. However, it seems very vulnerable to flank and even more top/bottom attacks. I guess there are some missile batteries somewhere. Also, can the massive hangar bay be closed ? I guess it would make sense to open it to deploy the fighter/bombers before an engagement, then close it to protect the inside when the battle is raging. Also being able to pressurize the inside could help the crew to ready and repair the carried spacecraft. ;)
